Change Driver Letters

How do I cnahge the drive letter for a CD-ROM drive?

I got,

c: (hdd)
d: (hdd)
e: (hdd)
f: (cd rom)
g: (cd rom)
h: (hdd)
i: (hdd)

I want to have the CD-ROM letters after all the hdds, how can I do this?

RUN compmgmt.msc > Disk management

EDIT. Obviously, if you have any programs installed on h and i, they won't work if you change the drive letter due to the path being changed. Media wouldn't be a problem though.

Well looking at that you have primary set at master (c d & e)/slave (f:)
secondary master (g & h) /slave (i:) am I correct can you recall this if yes look at it and change the cables so both f: & I: (cd(s) are together cutter or dvd on master
and the same with the h/drives, c d e master as they are then g h slave.

Whats wrong besides a pain and not in order or am I right a pain.

In Win XP its :
start>settings>control panel>administrative tools>computer managent>storage>
disk management(local)
right click the disk you want to change. ;)

Eh? WinXP keeps HDD serial numbers in the registry so if you swap HDDs around the drive letters will remain the same. It looks like this is how Wizzandabe has ended up in this position, although normally when you add a new HDD, XP would bump the CD drive letters, unless you reserve their letter assignments before you add the hardware.

Also, it looks like your understanding of how Windows issues drive letters to partitions is a little weak...
If you have two HDDs on different channels and each has two partitions, the Primary Master drive will hold volumes C: and E:, while the Secondary Master will hold D: and F:. CDROM drives are always listed after HDDs unless you tell Windows to always give them their letters beforehand.
