You could have saved yourself a lot of bother and just hit your head against a brick wall. You would get the same results.

I see.
You need a hug too!!!!!

http://www.vaxxine.com/steveb/hug.gif

WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT
A HUG ?
There's no such thing as a bad hug,
only good ones and great ones.
They're not fattening
and they don't cause cancer or cavities.
They're all natural with no preservatives,
artificial ingredients, or pesticide residue.
They're cholesterol free, naturally sweet,
100% wholesome, and they're a completely
renewable natural resource.
They don't require batteries,
tune-ups or x-rays.
They're non taxable, fully returnable,
and energy efficient.
They're safe in all kinds of weather, in fact,
they're especially good for cold or rainy days.
And they're exceptionally effective in
treating problems like bad dreams
or the Monday blahs.
Never wait until tomorrow
to hug someone you could hug today!

Just in from WorldNews&events:

BD introduced the word gruff to me!!

From Cambridge Dictionary:

"If you must, " came the gruff reply.

He's quite a sweet man beneath the gruff exterior.

Note the second one!!

Haha! You know UKMan, looking at your pics freaks me out a bit, cos I'm sure I've met you before, but I haven't said anything. I worked in the music biz in England for many years. From the early 70's I was a roadie\sound man\stage manager and all those jobs your muso mates force you into doing, specially when you own a van! Before I left England for good in 80 i was working for the Who out of Shepperton Studios, taking special equipment around to bands. I worked with 100's of bands over the years, and met countless people. Unfortunately the memory goes over the years, I don't know if it's the sex, drugs or rock'n'roll, but I have my suspicions!

As for a truce .... no need, I have nothing against you at all, or anyone else on this board. In fact I admire people who stick up for themselves and have a go.

So peace to you, UKMan.

Nice of you to accept.
NOW - that would be a coincidence wouldnt it? Bands i have been involved with during that period might have been - Dr.Feelgood, KC & The Sunshine Band, Hawkwind, Steve Gibbons plus loads of local bands. I moved to Sweden 1978 officially so after that date its all over here. Lived mostly in the Notting Hill area in the early 70's. Ring any bells?

Peace

I worked with the organisers of the Windsor Free Festival in 74 and 75 (?) that was, I think, the only time I worked with Hawkwind, but did work later on with Lemmy at the Roundhouse when I was there with a band I can't remember. And various members of KC and the Sunshine Band worked with Leo Sayer in the mid 70's, I did a tour of England and Ireland with them. Dr. Feelgood was one of my fave bands, I saw them heaps. I have mates now playing with Elton John, (Charlie Morgan) Status Quo, (John Edwards) Van Morrison, (Ronnie Johnson), who were in the first band I ever worked with, a bunch of mates who had a garage band called The Sunday Band.

I'm sure we've bumped into each other tho, it would be strange, eh?

The Windsor Free Festival is probably a place where we could have bumped into each other. I was with the White Panther Party at that particular time and we gave out free food to the masses. Lemmy & Hawkwind were our "local" band and well appreciated by all then.

My very first connection with music though was through Manfred Manns old manager Kenny Pitt. He and my dad were neighbours :P Believe it or not, thats when i first met David Bowie - but before he ever became popular of course. He and Kenny Pitt were..hrmm - buddies cough!

Small world aint it :D

edit: Dr Feelgood came over to Sweden quite a few times so i became their road manager for a couple of years running whenever they came over. Great band and such a great bunch of guys. I miss e'm.

My taste hasnt changed really over the years. In fact, my whole collection, apart from a few exceptions, is basically 60's - 80's rock/folk etc.

The original Manfred Mann? I hung around with the Earthband a bit, a mate, Clive Edwards drummed for them a few times, that's where I met Chris Thompson, and worked with his band Filthy McNasty, Clive was the drummer.

Dr Feelgood were indeed a good band, another victim of punk, as were many good bands at that time who could no longer get recording contracts. Kilburn and the High Roads, Ace, Man, Rococo, (the memory's going now) many many good bands died for that load of crap.

Well, im sure we bumped into each other then. Would be nice to know where though. Maybe the Round House, or even Eel Pie Island - those were the days B)

edit: nearly forgot the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill (i think that was the name).
Do you remember that little shop in Ealing called Marshalls. I think it was the first ever Jim Marshall shop around - not sure.

You remember Eel Pie Island??

I was born and raised in Twickenham, Eel Pie was a second home to me.

The La'Berge, Richmond community centre, standing on beer crates looking into the back of the Richmond Hotel to try and catch a glimpse of the Stones, The Crawdaddy, (the memories flood back, making me stoned thinking about it.!!)

Hey, guys, this is all cozy and all, but can't you make your own thread??
Something like:
"Musical history for demented loungelizzards???"

And i'm serious.

Im terribly sorry SG - but your the one who started this boudoir of sentimental cuddly crap, now you have to put up with two former enemies who have found each other and would like to reminisce the golden days of music in a quiet corner of your love nest. Who knows, we may have actually met each other. What chances are there of that happening?? 1 billion to 1 on this board anyways :P

You should be happy that you have contributed to the bringing together of two individuals who only the day before would have gladly eaten the other alive and now have found a common ground to meet upon. We may even have gazed upon the other way back in the 1900's and raised a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale together in rythmn to the sounds of "Bend it, Bend it" - (DDDBMT) Dave Dee Dozy Beaky Mick & Tich.

So my emotional heart throbber, please give us a break and bask in that knowledge.
