hi,

watch all six films in the star wars saga, i did it recently (spread over a few days as I'm not an unemployable doletard) and it was quite rewarding. I found that I'd never watched any of the films from beginning to end before. there's a good HD torrent on tpb, 'bout 16 gigs I think.

btw, late afternoon != tonight

The first 3 star wars he made are ok.

The last 3 films don't count that much they have none of the original cast members, like the little people from willow and the green cross code man them or that babe princess leia.

Listen how can a grown assed man sleep with his sister.

Now you're just being silly.

Or maybe you were referring to George Lucas when you said rewarding.

Well. I really liked the orsum battle scenes in part II and part III, the first one just seemed like a kiddie film - and not the good kind.

The original ones were okay, like.
But it's no Star-Trek :smilie4:

For instance, I had no idea just how right people were when they were moaning about Jar-Jar Binks.
Natalie Portman is absolutely stunning.
The battle scenes. I loved them.
The Jedi council was pretty orsum.

As for the original episodes; I find it stunning how 3 mediocre films have made such a cultural impact.
However, I thought Harrison Ford was good, and I love the whole 'force' concept.

Yeah I just watched Indiana jones raiders of the lost ark, the first 2 films were fun, he's also good in the fugitive, when he's being chased and loosing his temper he acts well and stuff.

Do you remember big trak?

newp. but i did get an email through from play.com recently which depicted some kind of robot with wheels with the title 'return of big trak'.

That's it, it says it was made in 1979.

those were the best years for space films and tv.

some of them were really shit though,

I'm only semi-retarded so I more or less got that part.

I hope that this doesn't come off as judgmental or lecturing but Episodes 4-6 or whatever they are were of cultural significance because A. Fitting neatly into a time frame when cgi was in it's infancy, studios were just discovering the potential draw of summer "event movies" and the power of marketing, and as old hat as it seems now the concept of combining technology of the (then) present with the sensibilities of the past( ie the old matinee serial cliffhangers)was something entirely different.
B. Pet rocks,Tickle Me Elmo and disco all at one time had some cultural impact so I fail to see your point.

Btw I still believe everyone's entitled to their opinion.Mine just happens to be that the(major)battle scenes were overblown, needlessly confusing and totally devoid of any real drama as they lacked intimacy.Great battle scenes work because amid all the shouting ,bombs and running around willy-nilly there are still people that we have some vested interest in at the core. That's why a director is constantly cutting between overviews and individual characters. It's emotionally easier to deal with sending your cow off to the slaughterhouse if you haven't named it Kenny.

I agree about Ford though and the fact that his was the only star-making turn from the entire series lends some credence to that statement.
As for Portman, I'm semi-retarded, not blind.:)

I edit Because I can get away with it.

I think star wars fans would agree the last ones were useless because the stars of star wars were not included.

r2d2 was the only one that looked the same all the way through all episodes and c3po.

I would be ashamed to have released those last three films if I was him.

I thought the battle scenes were brill, even tho' there were no cows.

What makes a battle scene work for me is only partially about emotional investiture. The tactical side always interests me so I like it when the skilled few defeat, or hold off, the spastic masses. And big bangs and spaceships help. I'm fine with directorial cuts as long as they make me vaguely aware of what's happening in each part of the overall battle and don't even mention the love interest until the last blow is struck.

I realise that I hold a more simplistic view than you do. Dissecting movies is not for me.

Oh, my point about the impact was that it was such an impact.

The caption of the image would imply that you're olmos gayThis is the second time I've read that and both times a wry smile fell upon my chiselled visage.

I think it's because on first glance, it looked like a really shit pun - but on closer inspection, I have to concede that it's fecking brill.

The first time I read your post, I felt like you were calling me unoriginal. I haven't given it a second reading as I'm still throwing a tantrum.
