So the site I usually download Wii games from seems to be compromised in terms of receiving warning letters after downloading certain games. Would anyone know of a quality game tracker for Wii titles where I wouldnt have to worry about this? Ideally they are open now for signups, or bare minimum have signups open up fairly often. Thanks :)

nTorrents, PWNNetwork or however it's called now had Wii games. I've also heard BCG has a good selection.

Any site you would recommend in particular from that list for privacy concerns. I got freaked out after I saw in the comments sections for the latest kirby game people again and again receiving warning letters from their ISP's.

Private sites are not (as you've just discovered) a guarantee that you won't receive a warning letter. No site can guarantee that--the nature of the bittorrent protocol is far too open--so you might just as well continue downloading from wherever you are now for all the difference it makes. Or you could try any of the sites mentioned, or bitgamer or even thepiratebay (which isn't private but that's irrelevant in this context).

The only ways to genuinely protect yourself are to use a VPN or a seedbox.

Both bcg and pwn are quite secure. Never heard of anyone having any legal problems from either.
cheers

No site is 100% safe, but it depends on its size and approachability. A place like PussyTorrents (which has 350000+ users and open signups) is way more likely to get you flagged than SCC, for example. Even though BCG currently has open signups relatively often, I haven't heard of anyone receiving a letter from there. An updated IP filter could help.

Even though BCG currently has open signups relatively often, I haven't heard of anyone receiving a letter from there.

But that's to be expected, not because they're in any way safer, simply because they're smaller. 40000 members compared to, say, thepiratebay with >4000000 members. So even if you heard of 100 TPB users receiving letters for every 1 BCG user receiving a letter the chances of being caught on either site would actually be exactly the same.

And consider that your total downloading+seeding time on a private tracker is often far far longer than on a public tracker--you sometimes have to seed back for weeks or even months--so you're exposed for much longer.

I could say several other things but I'm not trying to scare people. Downloading without any protection at all is actually pretty safe, and seedboxes and VPN's do make it as near as possible to totally safe.

Why not BitGamer

Bitgamer has 1165 torrents in WII category :) I've heard PWN is a good tracker for console games

bcg has 2118 that are still active with seeders

Bitgamer and BCG both have a really nice selection.

As far as # of wii games between the two, Bitgamer has more packs (NTSC and PAL).
BCG has 17 PAL Scrubbed Collections and 2 NTSC Scrubbed Collection packs.
Bitgamer has a total of 57 packs. Within these packs on both sites there's anywhere from 8-25 wii games. So Bitgamer does have a better collection of Wii games, imo.
BCG has a better archive of torrents overall.

I throw another vote in for Bitgamer. I use it almost exclusively for wii games. They've had all the wii games that i've looked for, and some I didn't know that I wanted.

After downloading, what is the next step we have to do, so that you can play the game ?

My kids asked me to get Super Mario Bros and can someone show me where to get it and how to put it into the portable usb hard drive which is connected to the Wii console ? Thank you!

You can follow this Modmii tutorial (http://gbatemp.net/topic/207126-modmii-for-windows/). It's probably the easiest way for anyone using Windows to soft mod their Wii. And if you have any questions about it then just ask over there at GBATemp.

Thank you guys for the info. My brother-in-law paid someone to have it modded already with the external usb hard drive. It has about 50 games in the drive. I'd like to download and add some games to the drive. What are the methods to transfer the games to the drive after downloading? Thanks!

You can use http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers/iso/wbfs-managers/wii-backup-manager to copy the file you've downloaded onto the Wii USB drive. It's pretty simple to use. WBFS is the best format to copy them into.

Thank you. WBFS is the application software I need to download and it should work with either Win7 or WinXP right!
When I tried to search WBFS on some of the torrent sites, it couldn't find any. Is that the correct name of the software to search?

Wow, thanks Stoi and it looks simple to use too.
I will definitely try this out first.

Btw, where can I download a good copy of Super Smash Bros which they asked for it.
My 3 boys are 6, 8, and 10. What are good games they may like. I would like to get a few games for them this holiday season.
Thank you in advance.

Well i am going to be bias with where to download lol

as for games, I have had a wii for 5 years, its been a paperweight for 4 years 11 months and 29 days lol and i have a 6yr old daughter as well, so for good games they are slim on the ground, but most games are for casual gamers/kids (not all but a lot) so just try lots and lots.

Mario kart is an awesome game. My daughter is 11 and we enjoy playing it. The mario party games are fun, as are most of the Mario sports games.

I have to check when I get home and I think we have both Mario Kart and Party in the external drive already.

I'm a bit confused. Rule 10 says "torrentlinks are prohibited. Posts directly or indirectly containing this information will be edited" so I don't think we're allowed to answer you. But then again it also says "Hacking/Cracking discussions are not allowed" and we've just directed you to tutorials on how to hack your Wii without the mods stepping in. So I'll take a chance and hope the mods will be merciful if this is going too far and suggest that if you were google for "super smash bros brawl wbfs" then you will probably be happy with the first thing google suggests.

As for good games this is a good place to start http://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/available/wii/metascore?view=condensed It shows you all of the Wii games by what a selection of critics think are "the best". Obviously everyones tastes vary but if you use that as a starting point then you can at least select from a shortlist of things which aren't absolute crap. And it tells you there the age groups they're suitable for. What I personally would recommend for young kids is the Lego series of Games. Lego Harry Potter 5-7 has just come out (it's one game), and Lego HP 1-3 is another earlier game.
