The problem with blocknews/readnews (at least for me) is that checking completion is extremely slow compared to everyone else, so I'm sorry I don't have time today to check a 20 gig file but here is a NZB Download Checker completion report for HIGHWINDS (US server) :

NZB file: E:\REALMOMinfo1802.nzb
Files found: 251
Message-ID's required: 62668
Message-ID's found: 62668
Message-ID's missing from the NZB: 0 (0%)
The files were posted 430 day(s) ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Initializing newsserver: us.theusenet.com
Terminating newsserver: us.theusenet.com
----------------------------------------------------------------

Parts checked: 62668
Undownloadable parts: 0
All OK!

EDIT: oops, I'm forgetting statistical analysis. The first 25 rar files (261 articles each) were all 100% on blocknews EU server. So I think we can extrapolate that 10% sample to conclude that Blocknews has 100% (or close to 100%) completion on that release.

thanx

PS supenews has got it 100% too

PS you would make a mistake to do the same with AW

they have the two range of incompletes e
it goes like this
1-xxx complete , 2---xx incomplete, 3-xxxx complete, 4-xxx incomplete, 5-xxx complete =)

I let it download and it came down fine. I run my blocknews setup with the eu server backing up the us server and I closed my newsreader without thinking to look at the logs so I'm not sure if it used eu as a backup but I can say it is there fine on their servers. I guess you will just be backing up your other servers so if that is the case you shouldn't have any problemos.

I've also noticed that Blocknews (both server locations) often seemed to have better upload speed and reliability during non-peak hours -- to the point that for awhile I stopped using it during evening hours.

Wouldn't their upload speeds be from them to you...when you are downloading? semantics aside you must have a really fast upload speed...lucky :-(

Used Newsbin's test and it reports 98% complete(rar only) on Astraweb, 60266 of 60963.

Right now Blocknews US server, **non-SSL only** is suffering from a very long delay , consistently about 12 or 13 seconds, when requesting articles.

Many news clients are going to time out waiting that long for the server to respond.

Headers are fine. The EU server is unaffected. The US SSL server is OK.

I've been playing around with this for the last half hour or so. The problem comes and goes.
