are you worried incase a family member recovers your files, or a member of the authorities does?

There is an option within properties for Norton Protected Recycle Bin.

Right click the icon:

properties>Norton Protection

From there either select which file types and from where you want or do not want protected under "System Settings". Or uncheck the box labeled "Enable Protection".
