Video Encoding But No Sound

WHEN I ENCODE SOME OF MY DOWNLOADED AVI FILES TO VCD THERE IS NO SOUND AFTER ENCODING.
I USED ULEAD DVD MOVIEFACTORY AND ALSO NERO 5.9.14
BUT THEY PLAY FINE BEFOR ENCODING.

For starters, by using caps, we consider this shouting.

Ok, the best program to convert from .avi to .mpg is to use TMPEG. TMPEG will capture the audio and video without problems. After that, the file will be larger than the .avi file. You will then need to split the file in two in order to fit onto the cd-r. Many will suggest you use CDRWin to burn the .mpg's to cd-r's.

Np. Sorry, spelled the name of the program incorrectly...it is TMPGEnc Plus. It is such a weird name, logically it should be the other way. And the program is self explanitory. The default settings are sufficient. Just select the correct format. For example, Vcd or Svcd.

in ulead clip properties says unknown acm format

Try ripping the sound to a wav file first. I think memory has an important role in this. I use DVD2SVCD there homepage DVD2SVCD (http://www.dvd2svcd.org) It can do the whole job for you just click on the misc tab then AVI. You also need to obtain a copy of TMPGEnc all should be expained in this link

In TMPGE, you have the option to choose the video and audio in two text files within the program. Once you select the video .avi, you should see the same file in the audio text box. There is nothing to it. It should work. I don't understand what the problem is. The only explination is that the .avi has no sound.

it does so like your problem is related to the second link good luck vcd a great but they take alot of time to convert and figure out its to bad there are so many codecs involved you may also require nimo codec pack for the Div3alpha audio codec "Gspot"http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ will tell you what the problem is... accat13 :rolleyes: :D

thanks for everyones helped i managed to figure it out in the end
the avi files in question have ac3 audio
once i converted them to wave with goldwave i used TMPGEnc to
covert both files to vcd

once again for all the help

:rolleyes: I too had this problem and discovered that the easiest way to solve it was to use the decompress.exe that comes suplied with avi2vcd to decompress the audio (this leaves just one new video file to work with rather that seperate audio and video files) and then use TMPEGenc to convert the film. :rolleyes:
