I know some users likes to configure firewalls. How to configure it with uTorrent, so all traffic is allowed? Or where could I find a guide/tutorial that someone else posted for Privatefirewall to work with uTorrent? Who has successfully done it? Or where could I look for the instructions? I wanted to use PF for a firewall, and the AV.

I've found that with Privatefirewall and P2P programs, the best solution is right-click their executables in the program list -> Allow all traffic. :D

That's for routers, and I get the impression he's trying to set up a software firewall...

Of course, if you also use a router, you have to forward it there as well.

Hey anon,

I'm sorry, but it's me as rocky12. I'll be honest. I'll try the right clicking thing. Btw, could you recommend a good Antivirus to go with this? I was reading that you don't use one, but could you recommend one?

I'm sorry that I have two names. Here's what I would like.

1.) Would it be possible to disable the account of php111, but leave rocky12 the way it is? The name associate with php111, and the email isn't activate anymore. Who has direct access to the database to either disable the account and/or delete the name?

2.) Will I still be able to post under this name without warnings?

anon,

I don't know if my steps will work. I'll go over them with you one by one. I don't have a router so you know. I'll wait for your response about the AV.

1.) Go to one of those socks proxies you gave me.

2.) Open up uTorrent. Go to the BitTorrent tab on the left. Uncheck the two boxes for the DHT. There are some boxes for peer. The one to the right of the DHT uncheck it, but not the one below the DHT boxes.

3.) Go to the connection tab. Specify what proxy it is. In this case it is a socks5. In the host put in the IP from one those sites you gave, and the port in the port box. Check enable peer to peer exchange.

4.) http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=7862 I was reading that PF is similar to Comodo. Follow those six steps to port forward. They used Comodo. In my case it would be Privatewall. When they say use the uTorrent "random" port. I'm going to put in the "proxy" port, and forward that port.

I haven't tried those steps yet. Is it worth it, anon? Will I be successful with all 4 steps?

Maybe you can also read what I recommended when I did use one :P

Start a thread in the report section about this. They'll be able to help you.

As we've already discussed several times, you cannot be connectable using proxies. Forwarding ports anywhere won't fix that.

Since you used a different account(?) for starting this thread, I presumed it was someone who wasn't using proxies and only wanted to forward his ports in PF to be connectable on his real address. Hence my suggestion.

I won't use proxies. I'm not going to sign on here with my previous name. Are you upset at me? I hope not. I saw you use to use Outpost. Would you still recommend Privatefirewall?

Yes. I tried the latest Outpost after noticing v4 didn't work on Windows 7, but it caused BSoDs after around 15 minutes of operation.

Thank you for the info! Here's a question.

Alright, what would happen if a person gets a pirated copy of a particular item that has to be constantly updated? I'm looking for your honest opinion.

That question is too broad to receive a single answer. Whose reaction do you want to know, and what particular item would that be?

If you suspect a program may detect it's been cracked after an update, that can happen at times, yes.

Crack is a dirty word, let's call it medicine.

I have to report that uTorrent, and Vuze for some strange reason won't download. I did allow it all the way through, but with no luck. Proxies are completely off. I allowed it in PF. I went into the Control Panel for my Internet for the IPv4 to setup a Static. It's setup now, but still nothing. In uTorrent I ran the tests, but the icon won't turn green. Normally when I have Win7 firewall off, and another firewall on then I won't get any notifications alerts since it would recognize that there is a firewall on. In this case, MS is altering me its off which means it doesn't that PF is on even though it is on. I get no luck.

No no no, crack comes first, then you get medicine

I ran a test today, but it wasn't a port test. My ISP has no indication for download shaping. My ISP has no indication of upload shaping.

It seems like a firewall issue? Or am I wrong? Are you sure that Privatefirewall is a good one, and will allow me to access uTorrent? I mean in PF I right clicked then customized, and allowed everything straight down. Or am I doing it wrong? Do you use PF? What am I doing wrong that the torrents won't download?

Yes to both. With my setup it's working.

Do you mind sharing the exact steps you took to get it working?

Yes to both. With my setup it's working.

Did you get my last reply with how you got it working with PF, and uTorrent?
