So i just had a chat with a newsdemon (highwinds reseller) representative and when asked why certain groups were not downloading his response was:

"We no longer offer the full range of groups for Paypal customers. Paypal has a very strict policy regarding some of the groups we previously carried but no longer offer for their customers. If you would like to view these groups, we have two options: 1) you can cancel your current account, and signup for a new account using Worldpay or Credit Card. 2) You can follow this link and change your payment method to Credit Card, You can have access to Broader Range of Newsgroups within few hours: http://www.newsdemon.com/members/pp2cc.php".

The group was anything on "a.b.erotica" So is it time to jump ship or use a credit card?

Astraweb allow it for paypal customers.

I used to be with Newsdemon, but they cancelled paypal completely, so i joined astraweb, couple of months later they reinstated paypal, but restricted groups, so i just stuck with astraweb.

Is astraweb censoring paypal customers too? I'm thinking about going with astraweb now for $11/month unlimited deal.

Don't think they are censoring, but I would recommend a combo for the best download experience and reliability. What seems to work best for most of us including myself is a good solid primary provider and then couple that with an Astraweb block account as they will usually have parts missing from your primary provider. You will need to decide which provider will work best for you as a primary - couple things before I go any further with advice (this is to satisfy the trolls on the board) I support Newshosting in my blog and I also use them personally so naturally I have good opinion about them :) There are many primary providers to choose from, but I would say as a rule of thumb don't pay more than $10/month, there are too many good options out there. That said I will tell you what has worked well for me, like I said before I use Newshosting as my primary provider and Astraweb as my filler -I have found this to be and awesome downloading experience, whatever Newshosting misses Astraweb picks up - so I literally don't ever have to deal with incompletes. What's more the speed with my primary is excellent - I only have to use 4 connections to get full speed and it is extremely consistant. Just to give you an idea, I have a 25gig block account at Astraweb and have had it for almost a year now and it has barely been touched.

Astraweb still offers paypal through their payment processor 2Checkout - for anyone wondering.

Their signup page says Paypal is unavailable until further notice.

Paypal is shut off if you try to pay direct through Astraweb's site but if you go through 2Checkout like you are going to pay with credit card, when you get to like step 3 it lets you pick paypal as a form of payment.

Yeah, Paypal is still working fine over Astraweb, at least for recurring payments, just got charged yesterday my yearly renewal.

Also, no groups restrictions so far using Paypal.

Paypal is on a slippery slope. They censor the porn group because "pornography is against our TOS", yet they're cool with all the other binary groups dedicated to copyright infringement? I smell a possible lawsuit.

Are you paying Astraweb direct or are you using 2Checkout?

Credit card processing is always hard for adult stuff. No one likes doing it. Probably all the chargebacks.
