It's nice to see that people are still even asking this question (even if for the billionth time)

Within a year or so after Windows XP came out, anyone still using Windows 9x/ME would have been shut out of a lot of software applications, so the choice of upgrading or not was never even much of a choice. (except maybe for a few die-hard DOS game fans) And the question "Which is better?" was rarely debated for long, not unlike the Windows 3/Windows 95 comparison.

OK, but this poster is just trying to get access to the invite subfora. So it's really just a bit of fodder.

I stayed with XP as long as I could but like win7, albeit with classic theme and dopus 9. How people can use that OS with aero and windows explorer is beyond me.

What is Classic Shell?
Classic Shell is a collection of features that were available in older versions of Windows but are removed from Vista and Windows 7. It has a classic start menu for Windows 7, it adds a toolbar for Windows Explorer and supports a variety of smaller features. Look here for the full list.

I'm using windows 7 x64 tweaked version , installation takes about 10 minutes , and i'm using basic themes .

Window 7 are much faster than xp imo . Why would anyone want to use an os that is over a decade old ? Unless he has low end pc systems

Well according to me Windows XP is the best OS of all time and much reliable than Win 7.

You have the brains of a tuna salad sandwich, but a tuna salad sandwich can give you the diarrhea, but both should be permanently erased from this world.

If you managed to extract some information out of this thread, fess up. No need to actually fess since you will neither return nor reach a state of enlightenment beyond that of a dunce. Hang yourself with a shoe string.

I voted for Window 7. It's really safely, faster and more beautiful than Window XP. I'm using Window 7 Home Premium.

Your *kind really does see the world in a completely different manner, I still can't find the voting booth to which you refer.

*by kind, I mean ilk, ilk of the mentally limited.

window 7 is good to use and xp now is no fun
and also Xp is not compatible with all the server and applications that are being build now
