I need to be able to stream HD content from a site, and need a proxy for it. Can anyone recommend one? The only one I know of is http://www.anonymizer.com/

Is it really possible to stream HD video using free *public* SOCKS proxies? I was once a user of those kind of free proxies years ago, and they tended to be extremely slow, even for web browsing, and anyway, never lasted long. Maybe these things are much better now.

The ones I posted are fast. The catch is that 1. you have to check them yourself and 2. they last a couple of days at most.

Those won't work. Glype works by rewriting URLs, and that does the trick for regular Web pages, but not "active" content.

The plugin system makes it theoretically possible for almost any site to go through the proxy (YouTube support involves a separate player that streams the video from a proxified link), but besides making Facebook and a few other sites work a bit better, no one seems to bother much.

Agree! vpn or private proxy is better. With small budget, under $10 you can build private proxy server with good speed.
