View Full Version : Anonymizer To Hide Your Ip...

Hi,
can anyone tell me whether products like Anonymizer (http://www.anonymizer.com/) are effective at hiding your IP etc from people as RIAA, Mediaforce etc when using it with Kazaa? Read few strings re this but didn't see any definite conclusions?

Also, if using proxies (or a few chained together) set in IE connection tab does this also affect Kazaa traffic?

Thanks

We're not safe! :-)

I'm in the UK and got an email from my ISP with an email attached from Mediaforce requesting they take action against me... which is why I'm looking in to as much saftey as possible! ISP threatened shutting down account if I dont stop and other possible action. :-(

i have no idea how to test if your ip addy is hidden if you use a proxy with kazaa. :(

but i don't think it will hide your ip addy. have a search for the list of bad ip's and just block them.
sorry i cannot remeber the link anyone remember it?

Hi,
yup ... blocked all IP's (www.zbl.ieplugins.com/) .. manually added them in to zonalarm (what a pain!).

I'm with NTL. Just using Kazaa and getting movies mainly.

Ok, so what IP's can I ban to be safe and how?

Flamingyob... check the linkI posted... that's the known bad ip's (check in the download area and you can get the list as a text file). Add these in to your firewall... depends on what firewall how to do this. With mine (Zonealarm) had to manually add the IP ranges in to the Blocked Zone.

I can't see how to do it, if anyone has Norton Personall Firewall 2003 can you tell me where to go, cheers...

I just looked into zone alarm and it's supposed to be the best, is that right?... I'm getting the new pro version now anyway.

It's easy! But I think a few people have said about Sygate as you can import rules and then dont have to individually key in all these blocked IPs!

How do you put these sites into Zone Alarm  Or any others?

Ok, I got Zone alarm, where do I go to add these IP's, I'm running norton firewall and this together.....

Just go to the Firewall tab down the right handside in Zonealarm... Zones section of this (once in Firewall... zones tab at top right). In here just right click and add "IP range"... and make sure it is is added to Blocked zone!

...only as long as the IP address list is up to date. And I can't see how that could be fully possible?! But it may help!

Owell, it's going to take awhile, hopefully it will help.

Just search this board for peerguardian, it blocks a lot of the ip-addys we don't want snooping around in our shared folders ;)

Hi Elteeb,

Setting up an proxy server in your browser will only protect you when your browsing. It won't with kazaa. If you want to use a proxy server in Kazaa, you have to set it up in kazaas firewall tab. It has to be a socks 5 proxy server. Also, some proxy servers forward your real ip adress. check your proxies here (http://www.multiproxy.org/env_check.htm) and if your ip shows up, use another proxy server. For future reference, proxy servers log everything you do.... So if you do something illegal they could track you. If someone were to do that sort of thing I would recommend chaining anonymous proxies.

P.S. Heres a place to start rosinstrument.com (http://tools.rosinstrument.com/proxy)

Just download PeerGuard, you can get it from that site you posted http://www.zbl.ieplugins.com/ This will block all the IP addresses without you having to bother entering the lists into your firewall. :D

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but.... I'm just a bit unsure about all this!

I mean, some of the things that have been said here are pretty heavy, and if they are true (letters from ISP's, etc) then I would have thought that this board would have had more talk on it. I am on NTL too, and I don't want any letters recommending legal action!

I tried the link which is supposed to list Evil IP addresses (www.zbl.ieplugins.com), but it seems to have been busted or something. When I tried searching Google to find an alternative list, I found a site called "Unite the Cows" which had a list on - but at the bottom there was a reply saying that loads of addresses in just the first so-called 'bad range' had loads of innocent IP's in it. I have put this a few good links that I found at the bottom :)

I have found a few pointers anyway, and am getting a good list going in my Norton Internet Security settings box...
