i accidently moved my music folder fromt he location that WMP was monitoring it. and i added some songs so now i have a few sogns that arent in my library. im not sure what tyhese songs are so i cant manually add them. is there a clean up library feature in WMP so that i can just put in all my current songs again?

yeah. but it doesn't add the files i added after i moved the folder. does it have a "clean library" funtion? to get rid of double entries?

Back up, then delete this file and then go to tools/search for media files and reimport the data.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Index\wmplibrary_v_0_12.db

will that delete all of my tags that wmp has made?

I'm not sure. Aren't those inserted into the songs file header? With the database backed up, just paste it back in if there's a problem.

Did you do that with the media player closed first? I have wmp9 and it works for me. The other way is to use Spybot search and destroy with advanced settings enabled to clear the wmp DB.

I wonder if system restore has anything to do with it. I don't use it. You sure you're in all users and not just one username?

yes, i clicked on all users. is the problem i only put the file int he recycle bin and that i didnt actually delete it from there?

How many songs you got? You can just click on the last one in all audio and hold the delete buuton (make sure you check the box- delete from wmp only)

over 2000 songs.
all that deleting could potentially delete all the track updating wmp has done right?

According to this Micro$oft article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;272116), the media library used by WMP 9 has been renamed to CurrentDatabase_59R.wmdb.
Read the article and see if it helps. ;)

thanks. i suspect that stands for back-up so that if i mess up, i can just undo my rename of this file and have my old library?

WMP automatically cleans up the media library, just not instantly. Give it some time.

ok, but that still doesnt add the missing files. lol.

You can add an entire folder instantly with File> Add to Media Library> Add Folder...

ok. haha, i dotn think you understand. but somehow i fixed it. i went to search computer for media files and it deleted all the duplicate files and added the missing songs even though it said it added 0 files. ha.
