utorrent just prompted me for an update and said it has a built in HD media player. I was worried it was getting bloated when they added applications, and now they built in video player? Don't they realize people who torrent already have video players and have been doing just fine?

I chose utorrent years ago because it was simple... is there another popular torrent client that is what utorrent used to be?

Edit... hopefully this will get moved to the right forum... sorry.

Just use µTorrent 2.2.1 Build 25302 and turn off automatic updates. http://www.filehippo.com/download_utorrent/9859/

Is utorrent getting bloated now?

Unfortunately, it is. If you want to try a different client, I've heard good things about qBitTorrent.

Check out Halite. It's what I used to use on Windows(which i'm guessing you're on). There's Deluge as well.

If you didn't have any excrement for brain you would have easily noticed is far from a P2P n00b.
A P2P user, yes, a P2P n00b, no :rolling eyes:

So crawl back under your big rock and leave the talking to the grownups!

Sorry, I was out of line there. I don't mean to belittle pinatas.

Is it a valid client on trackers ?

This is the client I would recommend as well.

It is indeed allowed at most of trackers. I used it on PTP,TL,M-V,what without any problem. but on of desi tracker banned it so i had to switch back to ut 1.6.1 (which i believe is lightest yet fully functional client ever existed)

I'll give Deluge a try... I'd try an older version of utorrent but there are probably vulnerabilities in it, and I'd try qBittorrent, but I'm sure there will be trackers that have banned it.

Thanks for everyone's input!

Most of the vulnerabilities I heard about in the older utorrent versions were on the tracker side and thus fixed by most of the trackers.

Almost exactly the same with me I use utorrent 1.8.4 . It has a tiny footprint when running, is accepted by the trackers that I (still) use and is stable and not bloated by unneeded software built into it.
