View Full Version : Why doesn't *everyone* get a block plan?? Why would anyone pay for a monthly?

I'm a newbie and must be missing something

Why would someone pay $10 a month to get 15GB download?
When for $12 you can get 200GB download that never expires and is valid until you have used up all 200GB
(All prices and bandwidth number have been made up - don't want to advertise unnecessarily!)

There MUST be something about the monthly that I am missing?
What is it?

Thanks

OM

You would normally get a monthly plan with unlimited quota. For some people a 200gb block account would not last longer than a two-three days...

Why get a Mobile plan when you an get a prepaid?
Different products for different needs, that's all.
I use about 150GB/month, and pay 8$/month with Astraweb.

I use around 150GB-200GB or so a month. Block plans are only worth it if you download less than 80GB a month - 80x12=960GB - for a 1TB block to last a full year. That will set you back ~$4 a month as opposed to $8. That of course doesn't add in broken and/or redownloaded files.

Why would I want to give myself headaches and calculate where I am at and what can I still download to save, (in hypothesis) mind you, a mere 4 dollars a month.

Unlimited is the way to go.

Besides, I download over a Terabyte each month.

A monthly recurring $10 for 15GB sounds like a scam
However there is 2GB for $2 blocks (never expire) for those who use it to do unlimited uploading or posting

Unlimited access and the ability to share with friends, using the right provider of course, are the main reasons that I am on a monthly plan. Between use we probably download 400-500GB/mo. Block accounts just don't make good financial sense at this point.

I think about it every once in awhile... BUT... then I go through a period where D/L 300-700GB over a few days, and it blow that idea sky high.

It all depends on 'whats available'. I subscribe to 'by mail' programs, but there are LOTS that they don't carry, but are available on usenet. Pay the Man. The 'unlimited' prices are so low that it isn't much worth it to buy bulk and deal with the hassle.

You're asking this question because you came accross the worst monthly susbscription there is.

15GB for $10 monthly is like paying a 100GB block account $200. It's way overpriced.

You can get full unlimited for $8 monthly (or rather, $96 annually).

I am wondering if the OP read the subscription information incorrectly. Does someone offer a 15 Mbit/s rate limit subscription plan? Which he read as 15 GB?

15GB is pitifully small. That is less than 2 1080p films or 4 720p. Was the OP ripped off?

As a main & regular use, unlimited wins, block plan loses.
