How To Setup Ftp On My Computer

I want to setup a FTP server using my pc so that my friends can download or upload directly from my computer.

How should I go about doing it?

What are the software needed and do i need any "special" hardware.

I dun know anything about FTP.... please help me.
I have already try searching on google but the more I read the more confuse i get :huh:

the only thing i would change is i definetly prefer filezilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/). i would go download the server off sourceforge for that.
