Since the beginning of time this site was pretty stable. Since the beginning of 2013 not so much.
What's up with all the recent down time?

Since the last 9 months was lost, there is no proof of that accusation.

It must be some administrative vendetta against you or something.

That happens a lot more than one would think.Anyway seems that upgrading to Windows 8 seriously fucked my system but not in a good way.
Please be advised as it is now more difficult to post links I will be a lot less funny or interesting than I previously was which probably rightly frightens you.

Leave it to Microsoft to release an operating system with multiple issues. Just wait for service pack 1 or 2 and they might fix it. I do like win8 but their market share makes them careless.
My only gripe with Windows 8 is the forced font smoothing all over the UI, and DirectWrite in IE10. It looks horrible. Oh, and no classic theme, but I would get used to that eventually.

You should try retro UI, works great, adds start and let's you run metro apps on desktop side.
I used Ex7ForW8; combined with a few other programs than turn off 8's "enhancements", I was able to get the old interface I know and love.

Please stop with all the nerd talk as I already have enough blood on my hands from that Latvian.

Have you ever given Start8 a try? I've been making that recommendation to gripers. I am not one of those gripers, for I plan to continue avoid the OS.
It was the first solution I tried and it was OK, but with Ex7 you don't need to run an extra service and don't see the Start screen for half a second when the OS boots up (which means a cheap workaround is used to automatically show the desktop).
