Google Deskbar (http://toolbar.google.com/deskbar/)

Go get it - it's very cool:

Search using Google without opening your browser

Google Deskbar enables you to search with Google from any application without lifting your fingers from the keyboard. Installs easily in your Windows taskbar.

http://toolbar.google.com/deskbar/images/deskbar.gif

Key Features:
-Search using Google, even when your browser isn't running
-Preview search results in a small inset window that closes automatically
-Access Google from any application by typing Ctrl+Alt+G
-Use keyboard shortcuts for multiple Google searches, i.e., Google News(Ctrl+N),Google Images (Ctrl+I), or Froogle (Ctrl+F)

Hope you enjoy it!

If you get ICQ you get the
same little option (maybe not a dedicated as the bar)
just type the search then hit go button

but i hear that with the google bar you get
a colour meter that changes the more you search
when you reach the last colour it just resets
pointless but hey!

is that true?

ha ha - i just had to laugh at this:

Google Deskbar enables you to search with Google from any application without lifting your fingers from the keyboard

Just my mad imagination thats all. Anyway, i'm against that sort of "deskbar" stuff - a lot of people dont mind and of course i suppose it makes things easier. But i dont think saving me 2 seconds is gonna change my life. Just another excuse for Google to track your habits - thats all it is in the end.

Thats my opinion anyway.

Peace

Firebird includes a Google search textbox in the top toolbars by default :)

But I still get rid of it as the first thing when I get a new version

Setting my homepage to Google UK is enough for me (Actually, I set it to Google News - But who really cares which page I set it on? :P)
