Lastly, I&#39;d like the role of the mods on this lounge clearly defined. There was a point in this thread when someone needed to step in and calm things down. Instead, we had a mod joining in, then pissing off when things got too out of hand.

There is no need for this sort of crap here, we are one big family, and should learn to get along. Naughty kids should be admonished in private, that&#39;s what PM&#39;s are for, you don&#39;t lash them in public. JP*** should have PM&#39;d Jonno and expressed his views. Jonno has several times before been asked, and then told, to cut back on the degree of spam in here, in a variety of different ways. This whole thread is the result of him ignoring that.

At no point did this thread descend into a slanging match or flamewar; for the most part it remains objective - a discussion of spam and hijacking. Although attempts were made to flame (implications of impotence, etc), they were never risen to. As such, it was never in need of moderation - it&#39;s no different from having arguments in World News; only when the thread dissolves completely into flame will moderation be necessary.

As for this:

At the time when I left the thread, it was close to 1 o&#39;clock in the morning. I had to be in work at 7 o&#39;clock, so I got less than 6 hours of sleep last night, ahead of a day where I&#39;ll be working for at least 10 hours.
I stayed in that thread until another mod turned up, then I left to get some sleep - that is the way we do things, we monitor problem threads until someone else can take a turn.

And by your very own reasoning, you are enitrely wrong to be publicly chastising J&#39;Pol - to quote your post, you should have "PMed him and expressed your views".
