There are a lot of british shows on one of our stations, and a friend of mine had some questions.

1. Was Monty Python as popular as Saturday Night Live is here, or was it kind of a cult thing.

2. We watch shows like Faulty Towers, Keeping Up Appearences, that show that takes place in a store (It's title slipped my mind for the moment), and others. Are the actors and actresses of these shows big stars there?

1. Yes, and yes.

2. These are some of our top comedy shows (I assume you mean "Open All Hours" for the third). I suppose it depends on jow you define big stars, but they are certainly very well known.

Just a tit-bit of information. If "Only Fools And Horses" has been one of your favorites, they've just announced another "final" season (or perhaps a one off film, I'm not sure which).

Monty Python is an aquired taste, I love them but a lot of people could'nt get the humor, so IMO I think it's gained cult status :)

Yes the stars of such shows are very well known here :)

Agree with Muppet Lynx, Fools and Horses, the longest running Sit Com in TV history spanning 4 decades is a real crack :)

Generally speaking the male of the species is bigger than the female. Therefore Monty would be bigger than Ana.
Actually there is a documentary on Monty Python. You will probably find it at bbc.com.

Oooops! You were joking were you not? :D
