Looks like we get it on DVD /BD November 4th, available to download from the 22nd October..

But...for just 13 extra minutes?

FOTR was 30 extra minutes, TTT was 40 and ROTK was 50 extra minutes.

Yes..9 hours of bonus material, much of which will probably be his webblogs..

Even as a die hard LOTR fan, not sure i'll be buying the BD extended edition.

Did Jackson leave his editors stranded in the New Zealand countryside or what? The guy needs to rein it in. They can double dip that snooze fest, but the 4 hour cut of Assassination of Jesse James... won't ever see the light of day.

Really late reply but, I think it could be due to the fact that originally it was only a Pt 1 & 2 but because he had so much on the reel, he made it into 3 parts.

Yeah the fact that the first one made $1.017,003,568 couldn't possibly had anything to do with it.

Similarly they are making a new Star Wars because George Lucas Disney has so much more story to tell.

Bad movies, really a miss. I loved the LOTR trilogy, there are many scenes in it, that always give me the chills ("...for frodo" // starts running :D ). Hobbit is just a mess+it's very ugly :(. LOTR looks awesome even today, Hobbit is just one ugly CGI fest. And what's up with Orlando's eyes :S?
