Like with Windows most people have a Internet security service. I wanted to ask do you guys use a security software package for Android devices? If yeah which one?

AFWall+ that's it. Then again, I don't run questionable apks. I'm more concerned with mitigating what my carrier and google know about me.

Yeah I thought if your careful what you install then can't go wrong and not having to have a security anti virus program

which do you use?No AV, just CygenoMod without Gapps and a VPN. However, its worth mentioning that I don't store anything on my phone that would damage me if it got lost, and I only have three apps installed.

Since I never used one on Android I cant really offer any good advice, but I used Kaspersky on Windows for a while, and everything I read on its mobile version tend to be at least somewhat good too. So if I felt the need for an AV/mobile security suite I would probably go with Kaspersky.

I've never used any kind of antivirus at all.
The possible problems with malware infested apks is simply avoiding being an early adopter on the market or using something thoroughly reviewed. Those MP3 downloaders all smell like trouble, for example. Same applying with the porn apps found outside the play store.
The only security app I have, and I can't live without, is Cerberus. Got a lifetime license when they were on promotion on Appgratis and it wipes the floor with the avast anti-theft.

That's what I missed out on. I might just pay for the app. I don't use antivirus either. Had no problems but the trend seems like it's increasing to use such anti virus programs.

This Cerberus app looks interesting, just a little over 3$ isn't bad either. I might give it a try. At the moment i don't use anything, haven't had the need to.

If your phone is rooted use CyanogenMod for sure. It has the master key #1 & #2 fix. If you haven't heard about the 2 master key bugs that were found by Blue Box security team make sure you look it up. If your rooted and running a different ROM then get the "master key" app on Play store and read details. If your not rooted, you'll have to wait for your phones manufacturer to push out an update, if they actually do. Kapersky and Norton's are the best in my opinion if you pay for security. As far as free security apps, remember...you get what you pay for. But I found 2 that I like. 360 Mobile Security (fixes the vulnerability of SMS/MMS or IM's being used maliciously, or USSD codes being dialed) and ALYac (scans apps for malware, spyware, etc. before being installed and tells you about the safety of the app and the developer, has settings to block unknown numbers, known spam numbers and emails, and more). I also recommend using "duckduckgo" for searching the web. Frost browser already has it and its a good browser or dolphin and Firefox. If your rooted and have CyanogenMod it has the option to set duckduckgo as your search engine and you can set it as your home page. http://duckduckgo.com/?q= Or at least bing. Anything but Google. If you have a Microsoft Live account you might like http://mhome.live.com for mobile or http://home.live.com on desktop. Just remember, no matter what anyone says, Android and Windows or in other words Google and Microsoft, are the ones getting hit the hardest with cyber attacks, because their used the most and most people think their safe because of their big names. Not to mention the NSA has embedded codes and in both and can use access any and all information they want about anybody they want. Best security...rooted phone, CyanogenMod, vpn, use a simple keyboard (they can save anything you type), delete cookies, cache, and history often, and read permissions on anything you download. Both security apps I mentioned have permission checker. A good developer will list explanation's for each permission. Oh, and don't update apps automatically. Check setting to notified of updates and wait a day then read the reviews about the update. One more thing, at least once a week, turn your phone completely off for a few minutes. Some people never turn it off. This will cut out things like data running in the background and things that you don't see. Every now and then I factory reset and wipe my phone. All your apps are still saved in the play store under My Apps and you can set them to restore data with app or install new app. Your other info can be saved other ways. Best way is to connect to your computer with USB and save everything to file. You can also make a ZIP file and send it to your email, cloud, or put on a USB drive. Real Talk though, we're never safe. Hell, China just hacked into the Pentagon recently. "That's all I got to say about that." Mama always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates......" While on the subject of security, look up "DARPA" and "HAARP" and "The 13 families" or "The Rothschild's" or "How America is being dumbed down" on YouTube. Everything you think you know...is a lie.
