Thanx for this thread JP, a truly magnanimous Scotsman who is genuinely pleased for his English cousins.

BTW, England played shit! And the ref was rubbish. But we won!

Just as a matter of interest Bo 'His' team were the first 'British' team to win the European Cup. Every single player was born in Scotland. I dont think any other team in European Cup history has achieved this with home grown players and manager.

Within 35 miles of Glasgow boab, but let's keep it to congratulating the new world champions.

Woodward said, we can't say we are the best in the world until we win the world cup. You can now.

Oh and remember, you don't win it in one game, you win it in a tournament, so it really doesn't matter if the final wasn't technically perfect. It was bloody exciting with both teams playing their part.

The best team in the world just now won the biggest tournament. That's the way it should be.

PS Let's give a nod to Elton, his bottle on a couple of occasions was unbelievable. Those kicks to draw level, what a cool dude.

Actually, I thought the game was a great final - It was so close you couldn't really call it as a sure thing. If I must be honest, I think Wilko's last drop-kick was a serious fluke of thought - If he hadn't done that, then I don't think England would have lasted til the end :)

As for those saying the match was crap, well let's see you try to get to that level and get on the teams for the next Rugby World Cup. Main point is that I don't think anyone could have done any better, let alone top the final :w00t:

I remember that game, I watched it with a whole load of Scottish mates in a pub in Ealing. Celtic were brilliant, they couldn't get through a very tight defence, so they slammed the ball goalwards from outside the box, and finally came through. We got pissed that night .... that week actually.

J'Pol
11-22-2003, 11:09 PM
They played to win, given the current rules.

They are the best team in the world and they won the world championship.

What's the problem with that.

Oh and did you watch Wilkinson tackle, that is not just a kicking machine, that is a great player.

Probably why he has won the Players Player of the year for the second year in a row. With twice as many votes as the second man. He was also the top points scorer in the championship.

What does this team have to do to get a bit of respect.

ang3968

Well that's sport for you...in most cases, sport is just as much a case of determining the best at whatever physical activity as it is entertainment. Unfortunately, when you look at "glamour brigades" the nowadays English Premiership in football, you sometimes have to ask where that strive went :(

But I'll tell you what - We'll hire the Harlem Globetrotters to defend the cup next time. They should be able to scrum :D  ;)

Boring

Steve Davis - 6 time world snooker champion.

Stephen Hendry - 7 times world snooker champion.

When people or teams are really good at what they do and neutralize the competition it is boring.

It's not WWE, it's not about being exciting, it's about being the best and winning.

Icey

I haven't seen england playing the "best" rugby in the world this year. They play boring rugby which sadly is effective for them.
Player of the tourny was Spencer from NZ.
