I would not advise it Ad. In some instances this is a source of Legionnaires disease. Also if it is the gravity type shower, what is in that tank in the loft?

In Australia we don't have tanks in the loft, if we did it would be too hot to drink. Our water comes from the mains.

Likewise, all of the cold water in my house is direct from the mains.

There is no loft tank.

It is not for drinking water BD. It tops up the toilet, hot water tank etc.

Everyone has them. Even you JP. There is one there to top up you heating system.

You'll be telling me next that it also waters the plants in the loft.

No I don't all of the cold water is fed from the mains.

1. I have been in my loft many times and would notice it

2. I worked in the building trade for years and know what they are

3. If the kids put on the hydrants I don't get any water pressure, upstairs or down. Including the cisterns.

Then again it could be an illegal substance with spikey leaves.

Where does the water come from that tops up the radiators and the hot water tank, if you have one. I have never seen radiators or a hot water tank, directly supplied from the mains. If so how is it done?

It might be a new type of pressure reducing valve. But as I say I have not come across one yet.

The hot water tank is fed directly from the mains, as are the cisterns, the cold taps and the shower.

Like I said earlier, we lose pressure when the kids play with the hydrants. If they are on all day then we have no water upstairs at all. In the hot weather we have learned to keep one of the bath's full.

My hot water comes from a gas heater outside. As for radiators ..... in Cairns? We don't have heaters of any kind here, ever, it never gets cold!
