Just wondering what people think of the wii u situation, can it be saved and should iwata step down, i am enjoying the games on the wii u but where are all the 3rd party games, and there are not enough 1st party titles, what are your thoughts.

I am not so sure it is. I know a number of people who are still interested.

I'm waiting for my co-worker to lose interest in his so I can scoop it up from him on the cheap. The Mario World game looks like a lot of fun. I need to see Mario in HD.

I think the Wii U went the wrong direction in keeping a device in the hands of the player. They put the motion sensor tech out there and should have continued with it, becoming the wireless choice for gaming. I think they missed the mark and will struggle greatly in the years to come. It may take a complete new system from them to get them back near the market share they once enjoyed.

I'll be waiting for a nice price-drop and buy one. It has a bunch of good games, and by the time the price drop comes, there will be even more games to make it worth the price - especially if you have kids, you cannot beat Mario for a role model in terms of gaming.

I think it might be saved with a price drop and re-branding - e.g. Wii 2. Lots of people don't even realise it's a new console, Nintendo has done pretty bad marketing on that front.

I've been playing a lot of CoD: Ghosts on mine. I'm not so much a CoD fan, but playing an FPS with the wiimote/nunchuk is stupidly good fun. I could never go back to a normal controller on a console.

I don't think the wii u is a failure. Nintendo markets to kids games and family party games. I own a wii and wii u along with my PS3 and Xbox360.

I think they should step aside and just become a third party developer. That is where they have always made their money and them being able to put out their franchises across all other platforms would be ideal.

I do like the Nintendo series, and I'm waiting for a price drop as well before buying one.

That's Nintendo's problem. It's a too little too late product and they're not willing to promote sales through price drops. They'll need some killer new games up their sleeve to bring this puppy back from the dead.

I think it's fail, I have a wii and I like it, but I've never once thought about getting a wii u, it just doesn't appeal to me.

It's only "dead" because it was never really supported by big enough 3rd parties. It might be one of those systems that you pick up near the end of its lifecycle.

Got a Wii U on the release date, relally just gatherign dust now. I've read there's a host of great games due out this year for it, so here's hoping it gets a reprieve!!

wii U isn't a great improvement from the wii.

I think its a fail. Nintindo does things a bit differently. They try to sell hardware at a profit according to the CEO. The result is they cannot include the latest and greatest technology like Sony and Microsoft who sell hardware at a loss but make it up on games. The graphics on the Wii U is just apple and oranges compared to the new Sony and Xbox consoles. Hooking up poor graphics to a high res. TV makes it look even worse. In terms of motion games, the Xbox kinect is the best with full body capture and control. Nintendo needs to do something drastic to survive. Just look at their sales results and stock price and you know they are dying.

I think so. Nintendo made the same mistake with the Wii U and they did with the Wii. The hardware is way too underpowered. The console was targeted to casual gamers who now mostly game on phones, tablets and "facebook type games" Nintendo has some great franchises (Mario, Zelda, etc) but those are not enough to ensure the success of a console

I'm not so certain that it's been a failure, but that being said it's certainly no success.

Yea i think they are done this gen. From what I understand the 3DS is making them money hand over fist. There's that at least.

I think it is, despite the fact that I'm one of those rare individuals that actually owns one. The only reason I own one is because I grew up Mario/Metroid/Zelda games and it's become an addiction. This system doesn't have anything that really stands out compared to what the Wii did. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a complete utter failure, but Nintendo is like a one off kinda company. They succeed on every other generation, and they are currently off this generation.

yes, yes it is. Until they can get 3rd party developers to produce for them, they'll stay that way.
