Ok, I am now testing my SFGI Radio in 32Kbps after
Nigel123 told me yesterday at KLB Radio Site that my 24Kbps it
not the best :(

Please listen some seconds and tell me if you experience any

a) buffering issues
b) important for me: is the quality ok?

thanks for sharing - I am planning to put my first radio show today night ;)
in the morning from 4am - 7am ;) It is the official broadcast now after I tried several times but was to tired for broadcasting ;) I now try to set up an automatic
schedule - News will be from other great stations ;) probably I will be up as well ;)

LiSteN NOw and tell me about quality ;) pls be opened ;) (http://faithhill.no-ip.com:8000/listen.pls)

;) Bump that up to 96 Kbps.

Playing the Bethoven just now.

Overall it's quite good, wee bit "crackly" occasionally, but that could be my speakers.

Certainly good enough quality for me to listen to.

If I bump it up to 96Kbps wouldn't be there more buffering problems?
Can I do it on DialUp? I mean what are the positive and negative effects, if you can give a short brainstorming?

ok, that is sounds a little bit more hopefully - I yesterday recorded a stream
of Nigel123's K++ Radio in 32Kbps and it was not bad -
and I also made experience that fewer bitrates sounds like an old radio receiver...

But that sounds good... I think I will leave it so - and probably test it some time at 56, but I also do not want that listeners has to rebuffer often...

I for myself do not love it if stream of a station interrupts every 5 minutes...

Ok, yeah I see unfortunately - I changed for some moments - to 24
and 32 again...

it is difficult... Nigel: is 24 so bad that you did not understand everything I say, means can you understand me?

Ok, I made the experience to avoid buffering issue when I listen
to high bitrate radios: I use RIPCast 1.3.2 - This tool save the first
minutes and is saving continuesyly and after the first minutes it plays
the file...

I did this yesterday while listening to K++ Radio ;)

RipCast is quite useful ;) just search on google.com for RipCast 1.3.2
and the first link should be the download link...

ok, yeah bass - are there any normalizers?

to get volume level not to high cause some mp3s have higher volume level
than others?

ok, I see that JetAudio seems to be a good player - I am going to download
this 22mb tool now - how does the jetaudio server works? like shoutcast server?

The best quality I have heard (from someone here) is Lamsey's shows and I rarely get buffering.

You may wish to ask him about the software and settings he uses.

thank you for helping me by giving you your feedback - I will
now stay at 32Kbps - If you experience buffering issues, you can
use RipCast 1.3.2 which is good to avoid buffering issues, although you are not
hearing 1:1 live what is live being broadcasted, but it is quite nice ;)

Some of you also used GSPlayer ;) does it worked well?

The riders of Rohan sounds fine. Normal Radio quality (but it is mono I think).

Like I said, certainly worth listening to, just loses a bit of clarity sometimes, particularly at the "meatier" parts.

Certainly moving in the right direction tho'.

Yep, I hope I could here his show soon in two weeks ;)

I alreday heard Wizzandabes, Illuminati's and Stepp Savage.
Illuminati had a nice intro for his first show ;) "You are listening to KLB ..."
Wizz's show was also nice to hear... Stepp's, not bad...

Lamsey: If you read this? I will PM you as well ... Can you tell me which
software you use for broadcast? Winamp 2.9? or SAM2?

SAM2 is huge, isn't it?

My comments relate to GSPlayer.

The voice (Tracy Chapman) is quite distorted. The settings you have don't seem to work well with the human voice.

I would not listen to that.

meatier? you mean a certain part of the song where it the volume is lower?

ok, moving in the right direction is good to know...

I am trying to get this: offering something that does not requires often buffer
for also dialup user like me and others (cable is expensive soemtimes?) and more or less good clear music to enjoy...

How did you do that Nigel, you connected with more players at once to same stream?

cool... I never thought it is possible - 48 is the quality of KLB Radio (Wizzandabes
Show) ...

how that's possible a guy connected 5 times to the server?

That's simple, I did as you told me, but I downloaded the latest version 1.5 :)

internet.news
11-22-2003, 10:47 PM
yeah, that is possible...

but the latest version is shareware and if you crack it it show you
"your ip has bees reported, if you use ripcast longer" ... or something
like this, that is why I am using 1.3.2...

Yeah, that is possible...

several times... wow...

push the listeners up - hehe...

no just some thoughts...

but mor ripping would cause loo of quality unfortunately or could cause it...

I see some one has buffering problems... hmm...

that is not good...

probably what is good - I can take the stream to 32 quality on my server and
on klb later you will hear 48 ;)

32 was quite good on your k++ radio nigel... as I heared ...
and your voice was ok...

only music was like a little like in an old radio receiver ;) but it was not too
bad... in some ways...

internet.news

Why the hell this happens!!!

Probably it is GSPlayer - my station is now on 24kbps...

again...

Try virginradio.co.uk with GSPlayer - hope it works better...

UKMan: here is the URL to Virgin Radio -
try it with GSPlayer - http://212.187.204.62:80 - hope it works ;)

please tell me if it is better :) if yes, than it probably with my dialup...

then ripcast 1.3.2 would be good solution for constant enyjoable stream!

thewizeard

No buffering problems now, But I must say that even with ripcast, there were buffering problems. I can only presume that you can not upload the stream fast enough...

yes, so, that is probably the upload speed unfortunately - I am happy
that is possible with 32 ...

Sometimes when I listen to other stations and I have many connections
due to download or uploads or kazaa running I have sometimes also buffering problem with virgin - that is sad...

My cousin haas 24/7 cable connection through wireless interface in poland - it
is quite cheap because everyone in his own network pays a small amount ;)
and everyone in the network is able to connect to the internet...

and some 128 station also were bufferin when listening...

Nigel: you had buffering problems with RipCast - I thought with RipCast you
can avoid some major issues... hmm...

I now downloading jetaudio ;) 15% ;)

I hope soon ;)

I also made the suggestion to the djs on klb - that if darker isn't there:

~ install Shoutcast Server

~ fill in "KLB Radio - [name of the show]" and make your show -
I know you can't serve as much users as darkers server can, but it is better
