Nope. Just as there is nothing to stop the same folks from running pay-walled sites with the 'keys' to such fare. The only thing that stops them, is that their 'site' eventually gets shut down, or that folks won't 'pony up' the fees to get the info, or enough folks won't and eventually they run out of money to pay their fees.

From what I see out there, it's semi-obvious that most of these 'sites' are getting their material 'free' (they are owners or employees of media stores, who can take home the 'goods', rip them/post them, re-shrink-wrap them, and nobody's the wiser.

The cost of running one of these sites is fairly steep, unless they are getting it free (or nearly so) in some way. So, don't give them any money, and eventually, they will go away, and leave things to folks who don't see things as a way to line their pockets.

Ah sure topsite access is free i forgot, promise me, everyone can access it from everywhere and for free.

You think they cant live without your money ? Ha-Ha, bravo. They keep archive on everything, scene, torrent or own releases for future, the passwords and non readable names are just to hide it.

comment sections on this site and others are the first line of defense against these bandwidth-wasters...

Obviously the biggest problem these pay-walled sites have, is that any 'member' can easily 'leak' the names and/or password keys on a site 'like this', or the 'take down' folks simply joining such sites, getting that information, and taking down the material anyway.

I would say that for 'standard' (non-wrestling/non-porn) posts, the number and availability have, except for the first bit of 'falling off the cliff' after the demise of a couple of sites a year+ ago, been just about as good as ever. I don't even see pay-tv fare (whether DVD/BluRay or captured) getting whacked, although I'm sure that possibly some of it is, I just haven't noticed.

Not so hard to trace who generated a key for passworded release ;)

Ofcourse if some owner of site is so retarted and use the same key/pass phraze on all uploads then sorry, no help here.

Take down, wtf? Funny. Subdomain per member? Custom reverse proxy for only one member? Never hear about it? Choices are a lot.
