It's not uncommon to find ebooks on newsgroups that still have DRM. What do you guys do about that? Is my e-reader account going to get banned?

I haven't encountered a single epub with drm. Though I use Calibre for managing my ebooks.

That might be why. If you put them on an ipad you might get it. Can Calibre remove DRM? Maybe convert an epub to mobi will remove it?

Calibre does, yes, mate. It also does a bang up job converting anything to anything else, too, which makes it really simple to just have a single digital copy lying about, and then convert a copy per device as and when needed. :)

Calibre is just plain awesome for managing multiple devices from a single source of books!

Yeah Calibre is nice and simple to use. I use it with my Kindle.
Only criticism is that it has kind of a funky interface. Sort of reminds me of a 1970 Honda N 600. Functional, but you wouldn't want to pick up your girlfriend in it.

Hmmm maybe that is a bad analogy....

I'll give it a try, thanks. :)

Calibre can't convert a book with DRM (purchased @ Amazon) without stripping the DRM. Search google for "Calibre DRM removal plugin".
Once the plugin's installed, the process is automatic; whenever a book is loaded into the Calibre library, it's DRM is auto stripped.
