I don't know if Sonic Scenarist is still about but that used to be highly regarded.

What are you creating the DVD's from? If it's from a video file and you want to go straight to making it a DVD then ConvertXtoDVD is you best bet. It will do everything, simply and with good control over quality settings but even on fastest speed it produces good results.

WinAVI All in One Converter works great for me!!! Takes any file format (Avi., WMV. MPEG-4 ..etc.) and converts to any file format you would like. Also has options to convert to a number of devices.

Another vote for ConvertXtoDVD. The program has come a long way since it's inception, and is very good at what it does.

Yup, this is what I use too. Pretty good at converting files and creating a dvd at the same time.

I prefer the no bloat solution and use FAVC, an older app, free, simple and high quality and works in Windows 8.1

If you are copying a commercial DVD (a la Netflix) DVD Shrink is the way to go, usually. If you are *creating* a DVD, Nero is the tool you want, preferably an older version. Ver.7 has worked great for me for years. (More recent versions are too bloated & buggy.)

If you have an .ISO file, ImageBurn is perfect.

As always: YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) fritz

I usually use DVDFab for checking and shrinking Dvd's and the Xilisoft Video Convertor for transforming movies to DVD format.

I also like Nero as a commercial DVD burning tool. Pretty sure I am running version 11.

Avoid current versions of Nero (I think anything after 10) as they removed some features including playing and burning DTS audio and also no or weak subtitle management
