Proper is usually used when another rip has been "nuked", or killed due to something being wrong with it (out of sync audio, etc..) The "proper" is the supposedly good version without any problems, tho occasionally those too are bad and you'll see a "proper PROPER".

I'm not sure where you can find a list of file sharing abbreviations and meanings. Maybe if you just post all the ones you have questions about, we'll tell you what they are. I think 2HD is a release group tho iirc.

I think its the group, some code beter than others. Below are a few i have in my downloads folder. I tend to look for Majestic and Sparks or Aquos. As quality from them is spot on. You dont seem to see many Majestic posts on usenet. I see lots on Torrents so I grab most from there.

TiDE, TASTE, MAJESTIC, PHD, RARBG,lol, WEBiOS,ROVERS, ELiTE, SPARKS, fookas, EVO, amiable, LEGi0N, Aquos to name a few of the most popular ones.

Just keep in mind several of those groups are not sceners, and therefore release however they want. XviD, etc.

In case op wasn't confused enough: http://scenerules.irc.gs/

There isnt a difference between Scene And Group.

the only difference is Scene and P2P - Scene stick to a set of rules (and really don't like their releases ending up in the Public Domain) P2P do not stick to any particular rules.

As long as i can upload the odd thing and download what i want it dont matter to me lol

thanks for the info.

I get confused with which one to pick re: file size sometimes. I like the small size of the mp4's but they don't look that great on a large flat screen. On the plus side I can generally always find subtitles for them which I require because of hearing loss. Speaking mainly about tv shows and some movies.

I watch 90% of my downloads on a Tab 10.1 note so smaller size is good for me. I tend to go for file size of between 1.6 and 3Gb for films as i stream those to TV. As for series its about 350 MB as those are for the Tablet.

The Scene competes with one another to get stuff out quickly, whereas P2P releases things more slowly, and doesn't have restrictions like size standards that reduce quality.

I figured that's what he meant. His post seemed a bit inflammatory at the time, I misread it.
