Summertime house temps?

The wife and I just ordered a nice 2 1/2 ton (don't know what that really means :idunno: ) air conditioner. We have already begun fighting over what temp we are going to keep the &%%##@ house.

Because of my medications, I sweat over 69F. She says she is "miserable at work all day" although she doesn't actually know the temp they keep things, she is "pretty sure" it if 69F. She wants the house to be 71F so that she isn't cold "like she is all winter"...

I just want to keep the %^*( house the same temp year round and be done with it. :frusty:

So, what temps do you find comfortable?

His response to having popcorn flung at him was to fire his handgun, a response any sane man would do when attacked by a deadly cereal.

The loud music case is equally puzzling since if Michael Dunn was in imminent danger why did he continue to empty his clip into a fleeing vehicle, spraying a total of 10 shots randomly around the neighbourhood, killing one young man and narrowly missing 3 others because they were listening to loud rap music.

Stand your ground is the natural progression of the gun culture we've developed. Do you know why we shoot each other here? It's because the stakes have become too high for a simple ass kicking. You can be jailed for assault for spitting on someone. Homo sapiens expect retribution for grievances, and sometimes it only calls for an ass beating. The buy in is so large for that ass beating that you might as well go for full satisfaction, murder.

As is this culture escalated, it has gotten to the point that you can reasonably assume everyone is armed. This only adds to aforementioned buy in.

In general, this country is filled with overpoliced pussies. These occurrences do not shock me or hold my interest, I have seen the American being, and they have grown many grotesque features.

Texan and full time, life-long air conditioning user here. This is pretty accurate. 70-72 is great in the summer. Although, since our AC's run 24 hours a day, every degree you can raise it and still be comfortable, you'll find very noticeable on your monthly bill. If you're comfy at 75, you can prob save $100+/month on your electric bill for 8 months a year.

The heater use in the winter varies day to day. It might be 35 degrees on January 1 or 75 on January 2nd. Though usually whatever it is outside is what it's going to be for the rest of the day. The humidity holds the temperature so well, Texas rarely has any rapid temperature changes.

Side note: I grew up with an old box fan in my room to help keep cool at night. To this day I still have a Pavlovian response to those things. Once and a while when the AC goes out at work, the maintenance guys will put those things in the offices and I cannot for the life of me stay awake when one of those is humming in the same room. :happy:

I'm not that sensitive to the cold really, I just love being warm. You just can't beat minimal clothing. Hot weather is what I know.

I've been in Colorado now for 2 winters and I haven't even bought a good jacket. I'm fine just doing the pullover thing. It's the natives here that can't handle the cold. There's a substantial longitudinal difference between the north and south of Idaho, Mr. Geography. I was stuck in the panhandle, for what seemed like an eternity. I bought some awesome, dexterous leather gloves specifically for the purpose of riding in cold weather. We had 1 day that I can remember in which it got cold enough for me to use them (1-5 Celsius). They've remained dormant since then. Consider yourself lucky.

I'd love to wear them more, but the saline mixture my body produces would surely give them an unpleasant aroma.
