Got an old desktop running on i3 530 3gig RAM and GTX 430.
Now I can't even run FIFA 15 on it.

Budget is low, so what would you recommend to upgrade?

Issue 2: My Windows 8.1 is 32 bit. Do I have to buy a new one to install 64?

Your machine is not that bad as you think. Get at something like a
second hand GTX 460 / 750Ti / 560 / 6950
Maybe spend around 100$ for the graphics, Add a ram module
if possible to have 4gb and it should last you a little while again.
Your hardware upgrade should cost you with some luck around 150$

And yes, you need a new install to have 64bit, especially if you plan
to use more than 3gb ram because you need 64bit to support 4gb.

So far, GL

Think I will go with your idea. Thanks for the input.

You have to install a 64bit version.

I mean can I install the 64bit version with the existing key?

No, the 64bit versions have their own keyset as far as i know.

I'm fairly certain that a Windows 8 key will work for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. The only catch is that you need to do a complete reinstall, you can't just upgrade.

Your best bet in my opinion, like jebise said, would probably be to upgrade to a 750ti or something of that sort and add some additional RAM. Any bigger upgrades would probably require a different cpu/mobo as to not be bottlenecked by the CPU.

The windows ISO I downloaded for the Microsoft site is the 32bit version. Where do I get the 64bit from?

The tool will create 32-bit installation media on 32-bit PCs and 64-bit media on 64-bit PCs

Maybe you should read the article first.
