I recently found viruses that have been hiding in my comp
since May. Around the same time I got a firewall but not soon
enough <_<
Anyways I have to drives 80gig WD 60gig Maxtor
I have windows installed on one alone.
Does that mean if I reinstalled windows my other slave drive
will be left alone? As far as being able to keep my files?

firewall only keeps out others and worms, not virii
have you got a anti virus? http://www.grisoft.com still have a free version
if you remove them you could keep everything

I got AVG 7
which found STDe9 which has been in my cmp since may(checked properties)
so who knows what else it has changed in my reg
weird thing is AVG 6 and norton didn't spot it.
so there's no need to start fresh?
TO james:
Norton ghost makes images of HDD but where to u store them if I'm reformatting
I don't think hdd will fit on CD's and I don't want to use 20 CDs

you dont have to make 20 cds, this is where a backup hdd comes in handy. if you wanna backup valuable stuff while u do the reformating it's quite useful, just in case something goes wrong and you can recover the image
