I signed up for ** FREE TRIAL ** ; at least that was the link I clicked on
they charged PAYPAL immediately.
after writing billing with a cc to support every day FOR 5 DAYS ; TODAY I received the following reply:

***********************************

subject line : JIRA (NHS-144207) SIGNED UP BASED ON TRIAL PAYPAL CHARGED

quote newshosting response :

Greetings,

As requested, the account has been cancelled from further billing charges. Unfortunately it looks like you signed up for our affiliate promotional plan which does not include a free trial. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let us know if there is anything further we can assist you with.

ur affiliate promotional plan which does not include a free trial.

So you sign up for the special deal or maybe you click the banner to give a site like filesharingtalk or an indexer a few bucks on the sign up thinking that nothing bad will come of it, and then BAM. They hit you with this kind of BS. Highwinds are evil.

So did you or did you not go directly to Newshosting for the trial?

I did a free trial with 3 different usenet providers, never got charged till I purchased a plan.

Not going directly through the provider and not reading the fine print is not a con.

My ISP has been using Highwinds, they suck! Everything is gone so quickly. :(

Add Tweaknews (https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/2svrxc/happy_new_year_from_highwinds_and_tweaknews/) to the list.

Only a few that aren't Highwinds anymore. I had been using Tweaknews blocks as my main provider for over a year and now with the Highwinds buyout, even though I haven't seen their DMCA policy in effect yet, I've switched to another European provider that has no affiliation with Highwinds. I actually bought a year of unlimited. Quite the change for me, but also with my higher ISP caps (320GB/month) and unlimited, I'm now downloading my TV shows in HD.
