We're in the qualifiers stage, but we don't give a fuck who's playing who. The most important thing is who will play Canada. Will they qualify to the World Cup in Russia? Oh btw, this is soccer not hockey!

Canada received a bye in the first round and will face most likely Nicaragua into the second round (first leg on home ground in Toronto on 08 Jun 2015). Nicaragua began the qualifiers Monday defeating Anguilla 5-0 and the second leg will be just a trip.

Now, Nicaragua is one of the most insecure place to go on this planet, so Idol must prepare for this adventure (guns, grenades, napalm bombs etc).

I'm fairly certain no one in the history of the world has put those exact words together in that order before.

BTW, ho is the "we" in your other sentence, Dion? Where are you from, anyway?

We, the Earthman.
You can't be one of us as I'm pretty sure the only thing likely to utter the term "Earthman" would be an alien.Nice try though,Great Gazoo.

Btw watching soccer is only just below flying Germanwings on the things I'm most looking forward to doing.

Just look up "places no one would ever go to willingly" on Google. I expect you will find most of Dion's list. The countries they seem to be playing have border and/or genocide feuds with each other, so that's gotta make being a referee a bit stressful.

Which makes this:
*All matches involving Indonesia have been cancelled as a result of the suspension of their Football Association. all the more interesting. What would Indonesia have to do to get suspended? :O

Couldn't agree more. Take a look to the UK. There are 4 historical regions affiliated to FIFA: Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Recently, I found out that South Sudan got its independence, following a referendum that passed with 98.83% of the vote. Here are the voters:

Does this mean we won because football's complex system of nothing ever happening can be confusing at times.

I've also been watching a bit of the Women's World Cup and have come to the conclusion that I would be a lot more interested if the women were better looking.

Soccer is the only sport where if something almost happens they make a big deal of it.

"That was great shot even though it was three yards wide". In any other sport that would be known as fucking up.

Rugby isn't a sport though. It's just an excuse to legally hurt other people.
Also I've sort of watched rugby and I'm fairly certain there aren't any rules or at least none that make sense.

I've been watching a bunch of soccer but I feel cheated since I haven't yet had any opportunity to turn hooligan and do mindlessly violent things to show my support for the game.

I hope it happens soon because all this pent-up anger against minorities is going to waste.

The point is anyone could reach the top, including the most insignificant nation on the face of the Earth.

The point is anyone could reach the top....

Would this was true about sport but obviously it's not. As much as we hope an underdog can win, they don't.

In league play, on any given day where teams are within 50% talent-wise of each other and it's not the play-offs and people aren't even really trying that hard then maybe. Even then, it's a once in a generation type thing and that's why the '69 Mets are a rallying cry and the '98 Yankees are a footnote.

I'll stand corrected when all the usual teams don't advance.

2 is the quantity of times New Zealand have played in the WC finals. 3 is the quantity of undefeated recreations the All Whites have in finals, the main undefeated group in WC 2010. Welcome Peru, convey your best diversion to the IC playoff. The All Whites have figured out how to be the world's best underdogs (with the exception of in Rugby where they win more often than not). Peru will lament any smugness appeared. Expedite it!

Last Peru appearance in World Cup was in Spain 1982. I think New Zeeland has a big chance to qualify.
