looking for a relatively easy (getting old and not that smart to begin with) something better than sketchup but not autocad something I can use for basic house plans/landscaping and to design things like aquarium stands entertainment units and will tell me what materials I need when I am finished I am guessing that I would need 1 program for each job

What do you see lacking in Sketchup (pro)? On the flipside, what would make a specialized version of Autocad overkill since, assumably, you would not be paying for any of them?

Serious questions. Unless you give specifics of what you find troublesome in those, you are likely to get those exact titles as answers. A lot of people use them successfully for all kinds of projects.

There's a lot of cloud based options now. They often let you order the 3D print/design from the software. I've used TinkerCAD but I think you need something more serious. If you need to learn, there's free tutorials tho I often use Lynda since the quality is higher and it's pretty cheap.
