View Full Version : You think you're all smart computer people? I've got news for you geeks

You know that Windows is going to clog up in the future and it's going to ruin Microsoft?

It's a bottleneck. It's sitting on top of DOS, and as people need more and more, um, megabytes, for the uses they're doing on their phones, Windows is not going to be able to handle it, and Apple is going to take off because they've got their operating system from the beginning to handle this high speed.

—————

The lesson here is to avoid trying to sell yourself as intelligent and enlightening from the wrong orifice.

`1. "You think you're all smart computer people? " This clearly does not apply to me.I'm thinking it's directed towards Fox or anon or Snee or Mulder or maybe if there is some possibility of unnecessary confusion and consternation then perhaps,Skiz.

2. I'm attempting to garner some explanation for this post and so far the best I can come up with is that it's fuck early to be this drunk on a Thursday or else Mary's account has been hack by SThPv3 or whatever his fake name is.

3. I don't try to sell myself as intelligent, it just sort of shines threw.

Unless we are in a time-warp to Win95 then I would have to agree with Idol. Hence this is not a place either of us are comfortable with.

Window$ is still the dominant force in PCs, but more devices are being run on other OS's now. In fact, I receive my first Chromebook (http://www.costco.com/Acer-Chromebook-R11-Touchscreen-2-in-1-Convertible-Bundle-%7C-Intel-Celeron-%7C-Bonus-Acer-Wireless-Mouse.product.100240634.html) tomorrow. :01::cool:

While on one of my bizarre tangents, this time on Youtube, I came across Gallagher stuff. For those who don't know, he's a bane to the existence of unscathed watermelons. I haven't heard his name in years, but recent articles on him (2008 and beyond) focus on the fact that his act has started to spiral into crapping on foreigners like Mexicans and Chinese and homosexuals. Listening to some of the stuff, Gallagher behaves like a bit of a petulant child in his later years, ready to interpret everything as a persecution. He walked out on a WTF interview with Marc Maron, which eventually led me to an Opie and Anthony episode with Gallagher and Patrice O'neal. I skipped ahead until I heard Gallagher say the shit I posted in the first post. The thing is that this appearance was Jan 2010, when we've already had widespread NT releases of Windows (XP, Vista, 7).

You are on the money there. Don`t think they`ll ever die totally but going to be a lot a restructures to push everything into that magic cloud that everyone loves so much. On the corp side should interesting

IBM are still ticking over (although OS/2 was total poo and their PC models were crap.... but then so was the competition back then... Elonex rings a bell).

You must provide reasons though. For example, do you think Windows can start from the middle to handle the high speed of all those phone megabytes?

By the way, what is IBM up to these days? I lost track of them after they sold off their manufacturing platform to Lenovo, and I kind of recall them indicating that they're narrowing their focus. Was it to focus on more IBme time?

IBM is still a huge company world wide :D out of the hardware business(no money in it) and mainly in the software/code contracts etc... and there profits are huge considering they outsource most of the work, and just attach there name to it:yup:

No tag day for IBM:yup:

Wait, I wasn't expecting people to jump on the Sledge-O-Matic bandwagon with this.

Microsoft = Windows, XBOX, Bing, Office (in no particular order). The death of Microsoft sounds like wishful thinking here.

Windows is becoming less necessary all the time. Chromebook was setup in minutes- with all my bookmarks, chrome extensions, passwords, etc.

XBOX is probably a solid platform, as long as they don't dump known defective hardware on the public again...

Bing

Orifice has worked its way into being a business staple. I'm fed up trying to learn where they put their shit each year when they come out with a new version. I know I'm not alone. A friend was nearly in a crying rage after attempting to print an envelope a couple days ago. I searched google (not bing) for the answer. Still, it shouldn't take a search engine to find out how to print an envelope. It took 4 (easy) steps to do it...Still hidden.

Fuck Micro$oft. Jumping ship feels pretty damn good, tbh.

Complaints about windows?

I can absolutely get on board with that. The reason to use it is hardly that it's the apex of operating systems. It's the third party software you can run on it.

Praising OSX as a better alternative?

Hahaha. Good one.

Bing

I once read that Bing is better for searching porn, but I don't know if that claim is valid. If it is, that's pretty significant because the Internet is essentially a place for porn.

I have desperately tried to permanently adopt alternatives to Office, but they all suck in comparison. Office annoys the fuck out of me too, but it sucks less than the alternatives.

Complaints about windows?

Not quite. I started it to highlight the very silly statement made by a hack comedian several years ago who was trying to explain why Microsoft will be dead by 2020. Then, everyone started affirming that Microsoft will be dead. I had to do a double take because I didn't expect this thread to turn serious or anything.

Everyone,

What the hell is the matter with you?

It varies depending on diet and current state of health.

Lately I've unwisely been eating a lot of parboiled white rice which unlike brown rice lacks in necessary fiber so my stool tends to be rather hard.:shit:

I find Open Office to be a perfectly acceptable alternative.

However given that I only do word processing and spreadsheeting, and probably use about 0.01% of the functionality that is hardly a shocking revelation.
