Is the business.

Basically a cut down version of linux with no other purpose than to run Kodi.

I have installed it on an old PC just to use for streaming and it works fantastically well.

Loads in a few seconds straight into Kodi and as it is so cut down everything just works faster and better.

You can download it, put it onto a thumbdrive, install it on an old computer or laptop in just a few minutes and then go about setting Kodi up to your desired configuration.

There's even a file manager type thing on Kodi so in addition to streaming you can also put files onto it and use it as an all round media centre.

Quality to the macs.

Thanks, JP. Will keep this in mind for future exploration.

I've been ewesing it on my Pi for awhile, it's solid.

I use it on 3 TV`s around the house (pi2x2 and a pi3). Great for streaming from my main PC (via NFS shares). Also 'Stream all the sources' video addon is fantastic. I assume we`ve all added fusion.tvaddons.ag. If not you`ll want to

Do you get any buffering issues with your Pi2? When streaming from interwebz? Mine chugs despite setting up zero caching :dabs:

The first thing I install on any Kodi thing is

https://www.tvaddons.ag/addon-installer-kodi/

It makes it really easy to install things like Phoenix, which is a must have for videos including streaming fillums.

The FilmOn addon, also available using that is good for loads of stuffs.

UKTurks and MoneySports are also must have's.

Yeah, I've got 2 Pi's (version 2) running OpenElec/Kodi with TV Add-ons, and the new Exodus channel that replaces Genesis is awesome.

Thanks for the heads up, installed to give it a try.

I thought SALTS was the replacement for Genesis.

Late reply but no I get no buffer issues but then I do have a nice solid 8Mb download speed (well nice for UK), also I only use it for mainstream programs that I can`t be bothered to source and download again so they tend to have many source choices which probably explains why I don`t have issues.

What the fuck is this thread doing in the Lounge. A serious discussion about a serious product should be in the technical section of FST, namely...

http://i.fststatic.com/misc_fst/navbit-home.png (http://filesharingtalk.com/index.php)
Forum (http://filesharingtalk.com/forum.php)
Other Discussions (http://filesharingtalk.com/forums/5-Other-Discussions)
Software & Hardware

I expect shit to be discussed in the Lounge, and not for people to make sense.

You are cross-linking to a 5 knuckle shuffle (although with age makes more sense as 4 fingers and a thumb). Assume FoX that works as pointless shite for lounge :)

I would try this but my Windows remote would no longer work.

JPaul

Neither would any of the rest of your windows to be fair.

Unless you could do a duel booting system.

Now that is an interesting thought.

I thought of that but not much point that I can see.

I use this remote (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W5GK5C?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage) on both media PCs. Some easy registry tweaks enable me to launch Kodi instead of WMC and fully control Kodi after it opens. Openelec forums has a section related to input devices but a lot of that talk about keymapping goes right over my head so I might be best sticking to what I have.

That's not available just now so you will have to use something else anyway

This looks like a wizard wheeze.

https://thepihut.com/collections/raspberry-pi-wifi/products/flirc-usb-dongle-for-the-raspberry-pi

The also do a Pi3 kit with openelec as the OS, which is a neat idea.

https://thepihut.com/collections/raspberry-pi-kits-and-bundles/products/raspberry-pi-3-media-centre-kit

Though like I said I've just used an old pc to install it on, works fine.

I think you are too constructive. Shame on you.
However I agree get a Pi. From CPC (http://cpc.farnell.com/raspberry-pi/raspberrypi3-modb-1gb/sbc-raspberry-pi-3-model-b-1gb/dp/SC14012?MER=e-bb45-00001002) with a download to a cheap arse MicroSD from Openelec (http://openelec.tv/get-openelec)

Thanks for the suggestion, however I have more money than thyme so getting everything as a kit is quite attractive.

Like I said I'm just doing it with an older laptop and netbook just now, however I might do a Pi one just for the craic.

Some nice add-ons recently.

Metalkettle has released Sports Mix, Movie Mix and Live Mix. Sports Mix is quality so far. Just toyed with the other ones but are looking good.

Live Mix does sports, TV and Movies with a few other things e.g. news.

All good stuff.

Aaaaaand TV Time has shut down. That was the best thing I'd seen on Kodi yet for live tv by far. It was like having cable again. :dabs:

None of the really good live TV addons last for very long.
DNA TV is ok as are Pear ccCloud Castaway and Halow.

Basically the live streams seem to be there to primarily cater to sports which probably makes sense since they (unlike series or movies) demand a certain amount of immediacy.

At the end of the day the add-ons are really only linking to material which is available on the internet anyway. So as one goes another one replaces it.

In fact sometimes it's not much more than a different name and look, with pretty much the same sources.

Apparently MoneySports is being replaced by Bulldog or something like that. Operation Robocop is available again but through Nav-X.

ProjectCypher

Not tried all of it yet, but the sports channels through the IPTV section are working a treat.

Proper HD, not tried a lot of the other stuff yet but it's worth it for the sport even if nowt else works.

OpenELEC Dev Update

Good thing for updating OpenElec it seems.

Contained in the Leopold Repository http://ls80.github.io/xbmc.repo.leopold/

And also Exodus (like Genesis before it) allows downloading via Kodi.

Why was I not informed. Stealing stuff FTW.

On my main windows PC, XBMC seems a bit cumbersome. I use Simple TV Pro and paste in the links from that forum. It's handy to keep a little window of puntsphere in while i'm working.

Aeon Nox first, then proceed to stuffs. Anything else would be uncivilized.

And you say "XBMC" but shirley your not not still on a 2 yr old build...right? Expand on what's cumbersome.

Music Add-Ons

Mp3 Streams looks the part. All searchable by Artist, Album etc.

Choice to play a full album, or browse and play individual tracks. You can even download the albums, however it's not the fastest thing in the World. I suspect that it might actually be saving them "real time". There's an option to "Keep all downloaded tracks" which I might have a play with. It might be possible to just play stuffs and save it at the same time.

It will play music in the background while you are doing other things.

Looks like a great subscription free service to me. I had a search for Gary Moore and there were about 30 albums returned.

Add it or do something else.
