I've got a shop bought copy of Splinter Cell for the PC and have managed to install it. But, whenever I start to run it a message comes up saying;

Critical Error

General Protection fault

History:

I'm using Windows XP Home if it makes a difference...

...does anyone know how to fix it?

No, I'll do that. I got the card and game today, the game was included in the graphics pack, shouldn't it run with the drives it came with?

yea it should....but you never know :D

the only time i got that General Protection Fault error was when i tried Raven Shield on my tnt2 riva 32mb card.... and the error said that the fault was GRAPHICAL....which meant that the card didnt support the game :(

so that was my bet here....but u got a 5200....so it should run....but maybe if u update drivers it can be cool :D

I've got one more question though, although the game works it does stutter a bit. My monitor's really old and the top rez I can get while playing the game is only 800x600, would that be the reason it doesn't run smoothly or shouldn't that be a problem?

DWk

well.... it shouldnt but it could be.... maybe not the resolution but the fact that the monitor is pretty old...

do you know brand/model of your monitor?

Mr. Mulder

Don't know it's specs, I've had it for about 5 years, It's by Packard Bell though...

...probably time to buy a new one ;)
