Dropcanvas

RIP :( It was a fast and no-nonsense service, I used it a lot.

Shutdown Notice

21/8/2018

Regretfully, due to the US H.R 1865 “FOSTA” laws making the Dropcanvas owners criminally and civilly liable for content uploaded by our users, and the new burden of EU GDPR requirements, we can no longer keep running the service.

No new canvases can be created, and all users have 30 days to move off the service - all canvases data will be purged on 21/9/2018.

Thank you for all your support over the years.

How it is "1Fichier" . I don't use it before .

It's pretty good, they have no captcha and great speeds. The only downside is the waiting time between downloads, but since their file size limit is pretty high, you're way less likely to encounter them in the first place.

Zippyshare is file size limited with free accounts. 1Fichier is much better in that area, and others.

Rapidgator free as a last resort.

Or uploadgig. find listings on rlsbb.ru.

They are way too slow when downloading for free and file size limit limits downloadable files.

Google Drive and Media Fire best for file sharing

I thought I was the only genius using Google Drive. I like it but I wish there was a better cheaper option then box or dropbox, etc. I would rather pay then host anything on Google. Right now I don't have a choice. Media fire is kind of old . . .

tinypic is best for images.

Image hosts are good at three things.

Deleting images
Shutting down
All of the above

Unfortunately Tinypic is no exception; only Imgur seems close to being one.

Yeah Imgur was just getting going way back when before my inactivity. I'm surprised it's still around, I see a lot of people using it.

Anyways don't reallt use dropbox, but a dropbox type of site would squeeze my nuts all gentle like I'd have to say.

Mega is okay, but iirc they do limit download speed/files under certain circumstances and it can be a pain to bypass this. Also MegaDownloader + Psiphon solves the download limit problem.

Never faced that, thankfully. One other problem I did encounter is that downloading files bigger than 2 GB is very difficult: browsers crash, and third-party clients simply never start. I had to create a free account and install their download manager.

Also MegaDownloader + Psiphon solves the download limit problem.

Until everyone else starts using the same proxies :) I had MegaDownloader installed, but after its magic quota trick stopped working, there wasn't any particular reason to prefer it over jDownloader.

I set up Google Drive for a few people, that seems to work pretty good....The one issue you would have to send 4k movies in "Rar" files, not enough free storage...

How big is the storage WeShare??

Well, maybe you should stop recording those vacation videos in such high resolution ;)

What is it??

I think their homepage's subtitle says it all: "Max upload size is 10 GB & files expire after 48 hours". After the shut down of DropCanvas (which offered similar functionality but with multiple files per link and a customizable time limit), it was the second best thing I could find.

I assume there was some security on who could access it like Google Drive, that you had to be invited??

And i always thought FTP was actually the best or at least for it's time for invited people to access files etc...:idunno:..

Before i actually joined Usenet and started to do it on my own that is what i did with a friend of mine.....

Not unless you consider giving others the download link an invitation.

FTP is good once you know how to make it work behind a NAT and add encryption. Using a tiny HTTP server like CivetWeb or Caddy is another idea. In either case, set nonstandard ports and password-protect all accounts, or botnets will rape your server within minutes. More complicated than dragging a file to Google Drive and copying a link, but you'll be the captain of your own ship ;)

Given your connection speed and this sorrow about not being able to share large files, I'm surprised you don't self-host more often.

Truth Anon, i only did it because i didn't want to give out NZB links to my private sites i pay for;), again i was just being myself and my good nature to help out people that wanted movies or shows that couldn't get them..... So Google Drive was the best bet to keep control on the people i chose to access, that's all....

Just because you see my view of Politics here has nothing to do with helping people out, again i don't care what other people think, it is not going to change my life, so i never really refuse to help out people if i can... You are the same:hug:...

Again you get like 15gigs of storage free right, so it just makes it difficult to send down complete 4k movie as you know , so if it was requested i will send the RAR files but i will never jeopardize my memberships, and yes there is code in the NZB they can trace, and people have been banned from the better NZB sites...

I respect there policies and will never do anything to break there rules;)...

When it come to setting up my own FTP server or something like it?? Truly i am not interested......

For what it costs to join a truly good NZB site (And no disrespect ,Cabby and the crew do a good job here:)), sooner or later they should pay for there own;)

Dropbox is another popular file sharing service that offers free and paid plans. You can upload and share video files of up to 2GB in size, and you can also give others permission to access your files.

After the fall of BayFiles, I'm not currently aware of a free file host that 1. doesn't require registration, 2. retains uploads for a reasonable amount of time, 3. has no waiting times or speed limits. If point #2 doesn't bother you, Send (see https://github.com/timvisee/send-instances) is good and also end-to-end encrypted.

PixelDrain looks good, thanks :) 90-day inactivity timeout, and the limitations for free users are all reasonable. Only downside I see is that it seems to be a single person's massively oversized hobby, and therefore could evaporate the day he no longer has enough time or revenue to keep it running... but let's enjoy it while it's still around!
