I just moved from being an andriod user to using the iPhone.

I'm learning about how IOS does stuff in comparison to andriod and ran into a problem I can't seem to find a good answer to.

I have a bunch of MP3's for a IT Certification I'm working on from my subscription to Plural-sight. Those MP3's are divided into folders to repesent each section of the course. Naturally, the MP3 files are basic and I didn't fill out the ID3 tags (since it's more lecture style MP3's).

What I found on the Andriod phones is I could just copy the folder structure to andriod, then use VLC app and tell it to play MP3s on the folder that represents the chapter I'm working through.

In IOS, however, IOS only wants to import the files themselves and does not allow for grouping into folders. Then all the apps just read the ID3 tags, so it becomes a mess when I import all those MP3s.

Here is an example of the layout of my folders with MP3s.'

As you can see, it only makes sense to play by "Folder" vs. play by ID3 tags of Artist, Album, etc.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to move the folder content over or any IOS mp3 playing apps that can view "Folder" and play by "Folder"?

My suggestion is to go back to Android.

For as long as iPhone/iPod has been around, getting files on it has been paywalled/software walled. Welcome to Apple where if you have the money to pay $800 for a phone, surely you have money to spend on every little thing you want to do on your phone.

If iPhone had the ability to drag and drop it would corner the market

Doesn't that just reverse the gender of your Lightening port?

I was waiting for a comment like that. I was thinking something similar myself.

Well, I'm not an entrepreneur like that guy who posted on the "how to make money" thread, but giving away free cell phones doesn't sound like a good business plan... unless there's an asterisk next to the word "free" :ninja:

I was just kidding Anon, how my plans work...Bring your own phone $40 a month want a new phone $65 over 2 years, easy to do the math really who pays for the phone unless you are an academic genius and really shitty at math:unsure:
Then i phone back after 20 months and go back to $40, saving $100...

So....

$25 x 20 = $500, that is what i pay for the latest phone out, remembering i pay for 6 phones monthly;)

So no there is no such thing as a free lunch no matter what anyone thinks legally, but you can't buy latest IPhone or Android phone for that kind of money.....And been with the same provider for 30 years:)

And times if i call, they will give me a year old model for free, but not the latest. It is amazing that my daughter seems to drop and crack the glass on her phone just around the time the 20 months are up:noes:

Many posts back about go back to Android instead of the bastardised version that is IOS. 12.4 still open to abuse (LocalIPStore is first stop) if they are still signing but I would hate to be without TWRP and Luckypatcher in my world.

That was my point. On the long run, the house always wins ;)

I'm having this vision of you using the original Ericsson Hotline now :P

Phones are basically large screens, and even with Gorilla Glass, Dragontail or whatever, there's only so much damage a screen can take before it cracks like a mirror. CAT rugged phones may be an exception, I recall an advertisement that shows someone trying to pierce the screen with a power drill, but nothing happens.

What I really find amazing is how in some models, the back lid and battery fly out as soon as they hit the ground... I dropped my Nokia 1112 several times back in the day and it didn't even get scratched, but we're living in the future now.

I'd definitely prefer Android over iOS too, but that doesn't mean it's perfect, it just sucks less and in different ways. Windows Mobile (not Windows Phone) was closer to my vision of a good mobile OS, even if not 100% close, but it seems Microsoft is doomed to never making it anywhere on the embedded market. (Did you know they made wireless routers running WinCE on the early 2000s? No? Well, point proven :P)

Actually my first phone was this one. At the time the Company was called Cantel , it is now Rogers;), the plan was 30 min free a month and $2 a minute after that, and that was further back than 30 years buddy.....

I actually have an Iphone 7 with a cracked screen for the 3rd time:), I myself don't give a shit anymore about having the latest crap, but there was a time that i was mental with that. My boys have and prefer Androids, older one has a "Oneplus" and my younger a Pixel 2, they Luv them, not for me i like the ease of the Iphone even know i would never buy a Mac computer ......

30 free minutes per month! Here you had to pay for all outgoing and incoming calls... unthinkable today, right? We've gone from dumb phones used by smart people to dumb people used by smartphones :stuart:

Sorry Anon, it was for in and out calls $2, and $50 monthly fee, the 30min was promotion/gimmick to get new subscribers, because most people only had built in car phones, not anything portable, if you called that suitcase i had to carry around :). And if you called or got and incoming one for 5 sec it was billed as a minute...

And the last part, what can i say but "YUP" your right.......

Car phones... I believe a few overheating incidents involving those are the reason fuel stations have a "do not use mobile phones" rule to this day :)

$50/mo. sounds relatively inexpensive for the time (even if money was more valuable and you still had to pay for calls), but in all likelihood you leased the phone from your provider and left a deposit beforehand, just as if you were renting a house? At least that's how it was here.

Nope, had to pay for the phone, that i can't remember exactly but it was a stupid price and at that time i was just as stupid to buy it....But in my defense , i didn't own a care to have a phone built into it so i got the next best thing:)

yes, there is a software called itools, developed by Chinese. After installing it in your computer then you connect your iphone to computer with a USB cord. Open itools and you can drag files from computer to iphone. After I found this software, I never switched back to Android.
