For almost all purposes then Vdub2 is still the go to for me. I wouldn`t use it to do a Wedding video or anything but for existing TS (ignoring container type) manipulation, re-encode, frame rate, colour adjustment, de-shaking, de-noising etc then it doesn`t have an equal for me.

AviDemux v2.6 is useful when VirtualDubMod doesn't work. It does more than AVIs.

Premiere of Adobe although it is a payment tool. Camtasia is free and allows you to do things similar to a moviemaker.

That is where AVISynth comes in handy :)

As for camtasia I`ll give that a try next time I need to do a home video edit... something I usually find a hideously tedious process.

HitFilm 4 Express and DaVinci Resolve are both free and very comprehensive.

Use Adobe Premiere only, if you want to invest serious time to learn. It is a great tool and the choice for professional work.
For simple work I prefer MS Movie Maker. It seems simple, but is fool-proof and the results are quite good. It still works with win10 and is free.
