Best Xvid Encoding Settings

Does anyone here what would be the best Xvid encoding settings for any kind of video?

i think encoding setting depend on what type of film you are encoding.

the settings that work well woth an action film maybe a waste of resources for a cartoon.

I am trying to convert the intro video of a game. It in encoded Ligos
Indeo with uncompresed sound.

am trying to convert the video to xvid and the sound to MP3.
I know what to do for the Audio part but am having troble encoding the video.
maybe someone knws what to do ?

You're asking a loaded question. There is no magic one setting for all XviD encoding jobs. I still use bitrate calculators because I prefer AC3 and a bitrate above 1100 and I don't like changing the aspect-ratio. Therefore, 2-disc is minimum. If you're a 1-disc person, AC3 is not an option. I don't even want to debate what's the best min/max I-Frame interval, enable/disable Lumi-Masking, B-frames ... etc. After 200 encode jobs of my own, I'm still experimenting. One thing is certain, XviD is better than DivX but many n00bs will say otherwise because it's hard to convert to VCD :lol: . I even have a friend who likes to allocate 2100 MBs :blink: per movie! Between my friend and I, we've encoded about 500 movies and yet we can't agree on a filesize!

do you want to rip a video with xvid on your pc?

and you want to know which are the best settings?

the default xvid settings are ok. if i were you, i would just tinker with some filters in your avisynth script, that&#39;s probably a better solution than changing the default xvid settings. i use

#undot()
#vague denoiser(threshold=1, method=1, nsteps=6, chroma=true)
#warpsharp()<<<i forgot the syntax, i can&#39;t find my notes right now

added to my avisynth script to clean up the picture.

maybe i&#39;ll edit this post later, when i find my settings :unsure:
