Mp4 problem

I downloaded a tv series and converted to mp4, then i joined the 13 shows into one file. Now the last 6 shows have no sound at all is there a way of fixing or has the sound gone for good. thanks for any help

I thinking no, you`ve remuxed something that you already D/L. I have not seen anyone join serial episodes, that is slightly odd but if you must what app are you (mis)using?

Right click on the file. Go to properties- media tab. Is there audio listed? If not then there is nothing there to restore.

It's possible that not all of the episodes had the same audio specs. Were the original files AVIs (xvid and mp3)? Variable bitrate for MP3 audio can screw up many apps.

BTW, I guess you deleted the original files. Try using a "recovery" program to restore original files. Recuva works well.

You can not join different format files without separating/splitting/mixing sound and video!!, best you find all the same format files and join them.....MP4 could be encoded with AAC sound and AVI and MKV with AC3 or D/D MP3 etc.. all the different sound encodes don't like to play together:), and used to make scene size file restrictions, or for different playback equipment......

Again been there tried that and failed many times with all different types of programs.......Tons of joining programs out there advertise on working and never do, but i never had an issue if all the files were the same eg. AVI, MP4, but again i had some sync issues with MKV files, for the person/group that did the muxing fiddle/twicked with it to fit a certain size limit?? Now you try to put them together the video and sound are way off!!!:cry:

I remember the old days when they used to split files A/B to fit to burn on CD's when DVD's were pricey and really no one streamed in those days!! That was also a real pain in the ass trying to join them, and also looking all over the house for Disk 2 to finish the movie or show!!!!

For sure that makes sense what you are saying MacGyver, but it looked more like Grumpybear didn't have all the same format files?? They were all mixed,and that is what i was commenting on, and really when it came to many many avi files i just used a video joiner and it usually worked..
Now what i also had to do at time, if there were more than 2 files to join?? I never did that all at once, i would join 2 then add the next and so on, for me that worked most of the time, and never really opened to inspect the CBR or VBR?? It was a simple program and usually worked:idunno:
Was it called bin and cue that used to be the scene standard for encoding, the old days?? the same a simple video joiner usually did the trick to burn to a DVD after??

And now looking at the Header of this topic?? MP4 problem?? I am thinking they were not all MP4 files and he tried to convert them first before joining?? Could be a screw up there as well?? Like you said need him to reply....

Not sure if you are around GrumpyBear. Did you try to do all the joining in one execution?? If you did i would try doing 2 and then keep adding to that bigger file one by one
And what was the original file format/extension??

Next do you want me to look and see if there is actually a post of the encode you want done not your encode/conversion ??

Until Grumpybear2000 gives us more information, we don't know what went wrong. We can only speculate. But, combining a bunch of small videos to create one large one is never a good idea.
