Basically, I'm creating this because I have a lot of time to watch movies and shows while at work. Sometimes I find a winner; often times it's just to pass time. Feel free to add hits or misses that are currently available on streaming services, are new downloads, or something that you've watched recently. A brief review would be a big plus.

Love, Death & Robots (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9561862/) is an adult-themed, somewhat 'edgy' sci-fi anthology collection currently on Netflix. As for middle-of-the-night watching goes, this was a win. Certainly not the best thing you'll ever watch, but I'll give it a nod.

Cool Hand Luke (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061512/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1). If you haven't seen it, watch it. If you have, see it again. Classic af.

Lord of War (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399295/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) Nicolas Cage at his arguable best.

Split (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4972582/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1) and Glass (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6823368/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) If you saw Unbreakable and thought, "Wow...most boring superhero ever!" There is now a trilogy that actually works in an odd, M. Night Shamal(whatever) sort of way.

Warrior (https://screenrant.com/warrior-series-premiere-review-cinemax-martial-arts-bruce-lee/)

Paul Newman movie worth a watch - The Hustler. Interesting sort of companion piece - The Cincinnati Kid with Steve McQueen.

Shit old movies that I remember enjoying - Mackenna's Gold

Glass ending. Which retard thought stuff like this will endear the film to audiences? I know it's Shamnalamadiba so there has to be a twist even if it's to the detriment of the overall product.

Literally the greatest scene of all time. The fist pump at the end really sells it.

I can't disagree-- that's a pretty great scene! I especially like the line, "He's just a thrower."

Yeah, something of a letdown when all 3 main characters die in like 45 seconds-- especially the hero who dies at the hand of a faceless goon in a water-filled pothole. :'( I could have accepted it a little better if they gave us a glimmer of new hope in the form of the son (or literally *anyone* else rising to discover their potential power. Nope.

My eyes skipped right over Warrior thinking it was the fight movie from a few years back. Had actually read that Lee's daughter had worked to get the story into production, but had not realized it was already made. Will give it a watch for its Banshee-alum pedigree alone.

Last night I watched the first incarnation of Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0988045/). When it first came out, I seem to remember abandoning it within the first 1/2 hour. I thought I'd give it another chance. Oddly, I was more accepting of Kung Fu Sherlock, but regardless of the cast, it just felt kinda forced and out-of-place. Things I did like: RDJ was cast well as a bored genius with underlying problems. Although oddly placed, some of the fight scenes were good (but we got to see each one played out twice). Overall, I was ready to watch the next one, but didn't have the ability to steal it, and certainly wasn't going to pay $4 out of boredom.

I think I'll dive into some Steve McQueen soon. I think I'm due for Marathon Man and Papillon (original), too.

I got back into Narcos: Mexico (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8714904/) last night. There's just something engaging about an empire-building story. True or fiction, they tend to catch my interest. Giant comes to mind. Citizen Kane. Wall Street. Narcos: Mehico definitely falls in this category. We see Felix Gallardo rise from small town trafficker to pot kingpin to cocaine super highway builder with all of the struggles that come with the chosen profession. Worth a watch, imo.

I just finished the last season of Berlin Station.

I don't know, I really liked the first season and the second one was okay, but that last one felt a bit like a letdown. Timely as ever in the current-events they base the story on, but I did not get sucked into it as much as in the first two seasons.

Speaking of terrible...watched Silence (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7315484/). Or should I say watched the incredibly cute Kiernan Shipka and ignored the fact that even with Stanley Tucci doing his best to make it worthwhile, could not overcome the fact that watching 90+ minutes of people whispering was sooo last year, and done with more interesting monsters. I'll give a spoiler in saying that the family escapes the city, then encounters a cult. Well... a 'cult' that includes 7 people if you count 2 captives that were not really into the whole thing. The final battle lasts roughly 2 minutes-- 6 if you count the stare-down which (I shit you knot) includes scribbling on paper at each other.

I did like Chuck (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1610525/?ref_=nv_sr_3?ref_=nv_sr_3). Worth a watch. Imdb will give you enough details on it. Basically a biography of a small-town boxer who gets his shot, struggles with real life. Easily endearing, I felt.

With summer coming, thinking of watching Magnum P.I. (1980) and something else to mix things up. Might watch Oz, if I can finish downloading it (source very slow process, but works).

I would make a suggestion, you could use some of the 21st century methods, and actually use the wasted aggravation time you endure to watch maybe another tv series:D

You have the tools!, you have the knowledge!, what was that line in one of the Rocky Movies?? "Go For It" :yup:

I do remember liking the original Magmum P.I, series, and downloaded the first series in minutes and started watching, and was bored and deleted it after a few eps:cry:. I also watched OZ , and really have no remembrance of the series, i am thinking that is not a good sign. And even stranger i still have memories of Cagney and Lacey, but that could also be because i have known one of the main actors personally in that series my whole life?? or it could be a Clint Eastwood thing:unsure:..

Seriously, watch it again. A lot of the stuff from the early seasons will not have made sense until later in the story arc, but if you know what will happen, the early seasons are much more satisfying.

There's a new Twilight Zone (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2583620/) hosted by Jordan Peele (yep, that one). He does a good job of projecting a Rod Serling voice, but every time I hear him, it just sounds...off...because I know that's not really how he talks. Not a bad host. He's also an executive producer, so there's an element of Get Out politicalism to one (and assumably upcoming) episodes. Still doesn't ruin it for me, just something I noticed.

I'm up-to-date on all 3 current episodes. Do yourself a favor and skip the first one. That is unless you enjoy watching a comedian bomb and repeatedly tell the same joke, then have his life turn to shit. Hardly a TZ twist, nor entertaining. I'd rate episode 2 as very good; 3rd episode as good. I'm sticking with the series...

Saw the first episode of Idol's mentioned Warrior. Potential there.

In the I'm-a-masochist-with-poor-taste category, I've continued down the rabbit hole for Into the Badlands, which is in it's final season and should be wrapping up within the next month. After season 1, it has thrown in a couple of new elements, but hasn't really been worth the investment. At this point, they could end the series with an atomic bomb killing all characters and I really wouldn't care. Bombs away, AMC. Bombs away...

I hate how Hollywood over uses someone just because they had a hit. Just like when everyone finally realized Breaking Bad was a great show. All of a sudden Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul are in every movie. It's like airing the same songs on the radio multiple times per day every day. A good way to make everyone hate something good.

Yeah, but when Malcolm In the Middle was a hit, he wasn't doing every movie that came out.

Look at J.K. Simmons. All of a sudden he is in everything. I think he's a good actor, but enough is enough. I avoid stuff with him in it now. I won't even watch those insurance commercials.

Cranston showed he had talent and range when he moved past Malcolm's dad. Breaking Bad was truly exceptional, and I believe much of that is owed directly to Cranston's acting ability. Looking on IMDB, he hasn't had any extraordinary hits since BB (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0186505/), but I haven't found him out-of-place in any of those roles. As a fan, I'm kinda glad he's cashing in following BB's success. As long as an actor doesn't ruin a role, I see no reason why they shouldn't reap their due rewards. Travolta is the opposite of Cranston: little talent; almost zero range, yet reached far higher than he ever should have.

MacGyverSG1

I agree that Bryan Cranston is a great actor. Overexposure just ruins his talent. He got the Breaking Bad role because of his performance in an X-Files episode he did. Too much of a good thing is usually not good.

Actually found a bit of an under-rated gem that I had never heard of before stumbling across it on Amazon Prime. Collide (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2126235/) has some notable talent in it including Nicholas Hoult, Anthony Hopkins, Ben Kingsley, and Felicity Jones. None of these actors are used to their full potential simply because this is a boy meets girl, quits his nefarious lifestyle to be with her, then has to get back in the life to save her story. The villains are somewhat cardboard, but the action made up for it in my opinion.

Anyway, it's a fast-paced ride that reminds me somewhat of another sleeper movie that is not available called Run (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102818/). The characters are easy to like and it's worth killing time with.

'Merkin Gawds season 2...if you felt season 1 was slow and tedious with only a ridiculously small amount of storyline progressing with each episode, season 2 continues with this snail's pace (how many seasons are we going to see for what should have been doable in a single 1-and-done season???) but with the addition of new characters *every* episode. At least we aren't expected to connect or care about any of these cardboard 'Gods' as they seem to disappear permanently after their scene.

Basically it's flashy and interesting if you are a goldfish or Dion. I honestly don't think anyone is watching the show as episode 7 came into being without so much as a whisper of its new season being available.

The Rookie (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7587890/) not sure why I thought something on ABC television would be good-- I honestly cannot remember a series from that channel that's been a hit. Anyway, I followed the IMDB crowd and dove in. How could a show with an 8.1 rating be bad? It is. After recently watching The Shield, these guys are the complete opposite, rule-following paper-pushers. It's like Cops, but you watch the officers do the paperwork and discuss if they ever lied on an official document. Riveting. People routinely mistake Nathan Fillian for someone in charge, but...no!...he's *actually* just a rookie!!! Hilarity ensues. Repeatedly.

So, if you're in the mood for patrol car hijinx (he damages 6 or 7 cars in the first episode :O ) , running gags, and what ethical issues cops face-- dive in. Just remember...he's the *rookie!!!

Doom Patrol (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8416494/) is significantly better than it should be. Any attempt to describe the characters, the storylines, even the setting all face an incredible uphill battle of being overly awkward, downtrodden, ghey, random, abstract and bizarre-- yet it is is in the lost, broken souls of these misfits that there's a great amount of heart as they struggle to heal themselves more than they seek to be any kind of heroes.

Re: Doom Patrol. At first I really enjoyed how it was both sad and sweet and while I agree with everything you said I grew a bit bored with it after half a dozen episodes. It didn't seem to be headed anyplace good story-wise and the strength of the characters alone didn't seem to be enough for me after a while. That and the sytle of humour got a bit repetitive.

Also teetering on bailing on Warrior. Needs better characters which held Banshee together even when it was not so good at times.

For some reason martial arts and Westerns always seem to mesh well. Kung Fu. Red Sun. Warrior's Way. The Stranger and the Gunfighter other stuff that I can't think of.

Shit, even The Magnificant Seven is a remake of Seven Samurai.

Game of Thrones has managed to go from one of my favourite shows ever to something whose name I will forever curse in the course of the last two episodes. So all the spoilers were true and clearly the guys in charge of the show must hate humanity.

Also someone please explain to them what the term "bittersweet ending" actually means. Seriously they could have just let Cersai kill everyone and it would have been less a downer. Anyway apparently Batman was right about living long enough. Batman knows a lot about hack writers it seems.

Sorry for the rant but I really needed to blow off some steam after watching that shit. I will leave you with the question "Who do they think will actually enjoy this ending to the series on any level?" I mean like Ted Bundy's not around anymore so that rules him out.

I believe they were going for a bit of a Shakespearean-style tragedy. All *could* have gone well *if* John kept his secret. All *could* have gone well *if* Danny didn't feel betrayed by those closest to her-- leaving her the only choice but to rule through fear.

It's never been a happy story. The two lovers uniting the kingdom under benevolence and admiration of the people was never in the cards.

You don't need the best outcome for a story to be satisfying. I'm fine with people dying. Shit, one of my favourite movies is The Man Would Be King that ends about as darkly as possible if you otherlook the final redemption bit. You do need to end on some reasonably satifying note like that did with " I will stand with you to the end" to make it all tolerable.

I can't see any way GoT now ends on a satisfying note especially as they've gone to so much effort to kill off most of the more liked characters for sometimes the barest of reasons and blacken the name of one that singularly was for almost all of the series portrayed as basically the messiah.

No one is ever going to convince me that since this isn't real life and so supposedly then "entertainment" the hero shouldn't always end up riding off into the sunset if only metaphorically, mission accomplished.

Cersei's death was extremely anticlimactic. I thought that bitch was going to die in some epic fashion but we got fk all. In the moment I thought even Jamie might stab her in the gut for fucking the IGreyjoy guy. But if TV watching has taught me anything it's that characters aren't dead unless you actually see them die, so I'm not writing them off just yet.

I didn't like the whole Sir Gregor thing for a few seasons now. It's never made much sense to me. Also, did The Hound look weird in this episode? His hair wasn't covering his face and he looked...clean. Just odd for such a gruff character. Something felt off. Then they kept flashing back and forth between that Hound/Gregor fight and Arya in the crumbling town. I'm not sure what they were trying to compare there. And then the white horse thing... they are clearly setting Arya for something huge, be it killing Danny or maybe the ultimate "winner" of the Throne. I also couldn't help draw the connection (thank you Johnny Cash for the reference) to the biblical reference, "I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him."

My prediction: Arya, being traumatized by what she saw in the city, will kill off the Dragon Lady to avenge the little girl that got burned by the dragon and John Snow will be heir to the throne.

Satisfying enough? Daenerys dies either by Jon or Arya. Jon is destined to leave ruling behind and return to the North. Martin says he's majorly influenced by Tolkien and that fits in with Frodo's storyline in LotR. Sansa probably winds up right where she is ruling Winterfell. Tryion could die if they wish to end it with House Lannister finito or he may live but he'll never rule anything again. Grey Worm goes back over the sea to keep his promise to protect Missandei's people. Brienne stays with Sansa, doh. Biggest question marks are Arya's ultimate fate. Slight chance she could still wind up with whatshisname after the Hound's speech fully sinks in and ditton Bran fate unknown because show-wise he been pretty much invisible and useless to boot. The issue of Bronn also hasn't been resolved as no one with any real power left owes him anything. I would have said Sam stays in King's Landing but I'm not sure there is enough of it left to do that.

Last dragon probably just flies off to part unknown as they've already eaten up most the the cgi budget. Either that or Bronn kills it but as it's now somewhat tied to Jon it's death seems less inevitable.
Best ending would involve a massive fight between it a pack of direwolves and a legion of those killer bunnies from Monty Python and the Holy Grail though but that's obvious.

Also none of what you suggest will be the least bit satisfying.
Dany shouldn't have gone ballistic. She should have returned to Meeren to continue to do mostly good with a little bit of evil thrown to spice things up. Jon still gives up power because at least unlike Dany they established that's who his. Arya ends Cersei and then fucks off because that's who she is. The Hound dies but instead of basically because he has unresolved faggy childhood issues he dies defending Arya so redeemed +2.There is an actual battle for King's Landing and things look desperate until Yara shows up with her fleet and kills the fuck out of Euron, preferably personally. Bran has his brains pecked out by a crow because fitting irony and he's too busy glazing his eyes over to see it happening in time to stop it. Sansa remarries Tyrion and they rule the land together in happiness forever and ever but only after erecting a statue to Theon - poor brave misunderstood Theon. The end.

Cersei's death was extremely anticlimactic. I thought that bitch was going to die in some epic fashion but we got fk all. But if TV watching has taught me anything it's that characters aren't dead unless you actually see them die, so I'm not writing them off just yet. Over 500,000 'Game of Thrones' fans sign petition for remake of season 8"This series deserves a final season that makes sense," the petition says.

May 16, 2019, 6:45 AM PDT / Updated May 16, 2019, 11:59 AM PDT
By Elisha Fieldstadt
Spoiler alert: Season 8 of "Game of Thrones" won't get remade.
But more than 500,000 fans are calling for a do-over.

A Change.org petition called "Remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers" had garnered 505,605 signatures by about 2 p.m. Thursday, and was gaining more supporters by the second.
"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," the petition gripes.

HBO's "Game of Thrones" started outpacing George R.R. Martin's series of novels in season six.
"This series deserves a final season that makes sense," the petition says.

After the show was on hiatus for all of 2018, the premiere of season eight last month was the most-watched one-day event in HBO's more than four-decade history.

With millions of viewers, a few "Game of Thrones" fans are bound to have problem with aspects of each episode, but viewers started complaining en masse after a nearly-too-dark-to-see Battle of Winterfell in episode three (https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/arya-s-game-thrones-heroism-punctuates-show-s-most-ambitious-ncna999521).
What fans could see though was a wild anachronism — a paper coffee cup — accidentally left in a scene (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/hbo-confirms-game-thrones-coffee-cameo-was-mistake-n1002586)of the next episode.
"My favorite show in the entire world forgot a STARBUCKS COFFEE CUP ON THE TABLE WHILE FILMING," one dumbfounded fan wrote on Twitter.

HBO acknowledged that the presence of the disposable cup in the scene was a mistake, and later edited it out of the episode.
Then fans thought they had caught another editing error when a promotional photo from HBO showed Jaime's right hand, which he lost in season three. But the photos are mostly taken during production, before special effects are added, and the image never showed up in episode five.

Crisis averted — well, briefly.
In the penultimate episode of the series, which aired Sunday, Daenerys executed Lord Varys before wiping out King's Landing and most of its population, even after the bells of surrender sounded. Many thought the massacre was completely out-of-character for Daenerys — or at the very least needed more of a buildup.

HBO did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the petition, but some are taking it upon themselves to defend HBO and the GoT writers.

"Who convinced the entire (expletive) world that it’s entitled to exactly what they demand? You don’t like something, leave it and find something else that makes you happy," TV Insider writer Damian Holbrook said on Twitter.
There's even a counterpetition urging people to "Stop Signing Petitions Forcing TV Shows and Movies to Meet Your Demands." That petition had about 1,300 signatures Thursday afternoon.
While a remake of the last season of "Game of Thrones" is unlikely, fans can at least look forward to a spinoff prequel series (https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/hbo-s-first-game-thrones-prequel-will-be-helmed-jane-ncna882961) written by Jane Goldman (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0963359/).

Great British Railway Journeys

A BBC documentary series presented by Michael Portillo. It premiered in 2010 on BBC Two, and has returned every year for a total of ten series. The series features Portillo travelling around the railway networks of Great Britain, Ireland and the Isle of Man, referring to an 1840s copy of Bradshaw's Guide, comparing how the various destinations have changed since Victorian times.

Carlisle to Penrith
Joining the cracker packers of Carlisle on the factory floor, Michael really takes the biscuit as he investigates the Victorian appetite for the custard cream on his new journey through north-west Britain.
Braving a perilous descent into the only operational slate mine in England, Michael discovers a miniature railway which once hauled slate to the surface. Following in the footsteps of Victorian miners on their way to work, he steps out gingerly on to what is now Britain's only Via Ferrata - a terrifying tightrope challenge 300 feet above the Borrowdale Valley.

Windermere to Carnforth
Michael continues his journey through the Lake District where he discovers a magical world of talking rabbits, ducks, hedgehogs and mice, who have entertained children for more than 100 years. At the village home of author and illustrator Beatrix Potter, Michael learns about her legacy and her fears about the railways.
Fuelled by a Victorian energy bar, Michael presses on to Brantwood, home of the Victorian art critic John Ruskin. He finishes with a brief encounter (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037558/) at Carnforth.

It represents everything the people fought for: peace among the kingdoms, returning to life as usual, rebuilding, taking on new roles, also shows just how much everyone has grown through their experiences. Arya once considered sailing off, but instead chose to protect her family-- she sailed off in her own ship with crew. John is not king of the north, but is respected and welcome in the area and has his wolf. Sansa is queen of the north, having refused to join the other kingdoms in unification. The gathering at the table (Tyrian and company) shows that there will be challenges ahead for the new unified kingdoms, but trade and mutual benefits to all give hope for the future. Everyone's story led them to their new places of power and responsibilities.

All of this is in contrast to the endless wars that would have occurred if evil has been allowed to reign. In a way, it says that everything they all went through was necessary and worthwhile.

Can't say that I'm a fan of revisionalist Westerns in general although there have been a couple obvious ones that I have liked.

Me not being fond of them is probably due to the fact their nihilism/determined to make the audience suffer is so counter to the good guy/ bad guy idea that classic Westerns are entirely founded on.

It's definitely one of those movies made to scoop up awards due to its social history theme, race relations, etc. Even with that, the movie moves along quickly, has good chemistry and dialog, makes the case for actually examining the theme, and ultimately feels pretty satisfying to watch. The acting was good (moreso on Mahershala Ali's side than on Viggo Mortensen's, imo-- although VM wasn't bad, he had so much makeup and prosthetic applied to him that they could have simply hired an actor who looked like they wanted instead of going so far with it...). Anyway, good movie with few negatives overall.

Happened to be one of the very first to grab The Kid (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4975920/) when it was posted on IPT. Seemed like a safe bet with Vincent D'Onofrio directing and writing, as well as a cast reuniting many of the recent Magnificent Seven. Unfortunately, the movie just lacks in everything that made MS work. The main story seems to get lost in itself, the actors seem more like they are there to help a buddy make his movie than really shine, and there's never really any time when the movie gets exciting. Overally, it wasn't completely bad, but with the talent involved it should have been *much* better. It current;y has a ~6.3 on IMDB, i believe it will settle closer to 5.5...

How much faith do you put in the IMDb ratings really Meg?? Even if you are say really into Westerns?? But the people leaving there ratings/reviews are movie buffs but not avid Western movie lovers?? I know it is a new release and there was only just over 600 people that posted reviews.. My downfall is i seem to always go to movies that i know the actors in it:cry:, and i miss so many diamond in the ruffs because of it....

I Am Wrath (2016)....IMDb rating 5.4 with 11,130 reviews/posts
I thought it was entertaining and a typical Travolta action movie but for me personally it also had Christopher Meloni that stared in Law and Order SVU and thought he played his roll really good in that..
If you are into typical action revenge style movies i would recommend you to check it out, the story line was pretty good:)...

On a personal note to you Meg...

You know thinking now that i see you changed your splash screen and you know actually that was not necessary, just adding the truthful fact context that i did post would have made it a true statement of what i actually said, because i did use those exact words and a few in the beginning of that comment, for that i apologize for not explaining it that way. It's like going to twitter and watching a video posted and then seeing all the horrible people turning on a person and threatening his/her life!! Then a few hours later the full footage is posted and it was completely not what it seemed!!! I guess that's what you can call "Fake News". But really thinking about it on the full footage you only see less than half of the comments, It is like everyone still believes or wants the horrible fake version, not the real truth, to me the biggest dangers of Internet today:yup:

Initially, I never expected to leave that siggyup for more than a day. I intended to quickly ruffle your feathers because it was such a significant out-of-context 'quote' but you never mentioned it. :p

I believe we see a lot of westerns and zombie movies for the same reason: they're cheap to make. Some of them can be exceptional and/or fun. I really had good hopes for The Kid.

IMDb ratings are at least a baseline for expectations. I find that ratings that steadily fall as more people see the movie/show tells an accurate picture of how good something is. At least potentially. My 5.5 rating was meant to say, " not terrible, just not as good as had hoped ". I'll forego any mom/wife/daughter jokes with that...

My wife loves westerns but more vintage ones, she used to watch them all the time with her dad. I myself am not fond of westerns unless you count Blazing Saddles or The Frisco Kid in that category;)...

Fixed!! And don't forget to add one of your joys of life again;), and i did understand what you meant on the average going down/settling to 5.5.....
My kids go to all these different sites to see reviews and shit!!, and you would figure after 600 comments it would be pretty close to accurate, on your flick?? most of the time i don't bother, i download the movie and skim through it to see if i will have any interests in the story line and then save it or chuck it, even the ones that have well known actors i recognize ,but i stay away from all the B horror uploads, i tried watching a few of them and they were so bad i just avoid all of them now.. Halloween 1-2, and Black Christmas would lead my top horror's , and i don't count Blade or Underworld movie series as horror's, but for myself were all really good movies, and recommend all of them if you like that genre...

PS. Well i just was curios and checked out Solo:A Star Wars Story rating and myself personally it took me a few days to watch it, kept falling asleep, actually thought it was shit!! And that sits at 7.0 with 223,544 which is pretty high ratings. And a for some reason a ton of Movies i see posted/uploaded on Usenet are Netflix originals??. Most of those i find shit as well!!!

The Old Man and the Gun (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2837574/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) Like Eastwood, Redford has directed/created/acted in some exceptional films later in life. It was because of that I dove into this one. I won't say it is 'bad' by any means, but I think Redford believed his character and story were more endearing, sentimental than they ended up being. I suspect people over 60 might have been the intended audience. For a movie about robbing banks, running from the police, and living one's life the way one chooses, it lacks real excitement. While the main character is interesting, there's only so much depth to him.

Casey Affleck is very likable and does a great job as usual. Not even sure *why* he's such an enjoyable actor, but he seems to succeed every time.

Maybe with a little more depth, more excitement, and some rewriting this could have been great. As it stands, I give it a 6/10.

With a couple notable exceptions, Marvel movie are all shit. They are smart enough to cast good actors and creating just enough emotional resonance though that people are tricked into thinking they aren't.

It gets weird, then there's a little hope it'll make sense... but it ends up getting hellaciously weird, with NO sense at all. If you were to take a classroom full of autistic kids pumped full of sugar and caffeine then asked them to collaborate on writing a better last 5 episodes to the season my money would be on the autistic kids. 10 out of 10 times. Chernobyl is meh. I still need to watch the last episode but it’s been all drama and no educational info or explanations. I wish they’d have gone into more detail about how radiation does it’s damage. The explanations they offered were pretty weak. Why did physical contact with the firefighters cause them to get so much worse? Why are they having to shoot dogs? I understand they are carrying radiation but they need to qualify that. The show has honestly caused me for more questions than I ever knew I would have about Chernobyl than it has answered.

Anyone watched The Leftovers? Watch s01e02 the other night and it was also meh. Show is highly rated online tho.

Give it a go. It’s only six episodes and it does tell the story of Chernobyl. I just wish they’d gone into more depth about radiation and its effects considering that’s the underlying issue in the entire show. If those sort of details in shows interest you maybe read up on radiation before you watch the show

While She Lay Sleeping
The murder of Florida mother-of-four Andrea White, whose body was found floating in a pond dressed in nightwear. Immediately prior to her death in July 2005, she was in the process of arranging a divorce from her husband David, who was eventually found guilty of the crime.

Texas Killing Fields
The murder of 13-year-old Krystal Baker, whose body was found at the edge of a Texas river in 1996. The case went cold for 16 years until a DNA specimen retrieved from the victim's clothing was linked with that of an itinerant refinery welder.

Slings & Arrows
The case of evangelist Kenneth Richardson, whose body was found floating in the sea at a Florida beach in October 2001 with an arrow piercing his torso. During the investigation it transpired the victim was gay and routinely sought out homosexual liaisons at outdoor locations.

Love Squared
The kidnap and murder of Florida mother-of-two Heather Strong in February 2009. Detectives found her body a month later in a swampy overgrowth and the investigation that followed untangled a web of romance, obsession and betrayal that ultimately led to Strong's female killer.

Death in an Orange Grove
The death of 14-year-old Gina Marie, who was brutally raped and strangled before being discovered in a Florida orange grove in August 1971. Advances in DNA technology finally allowed her killer, Jerry Lee Fletcher, to be convicted 42 years later.

Currently, you'll have to get behind Pennyworth (https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/pennyworth-is-a-sexy-1960s-spy-adventure-in-new-teaser-for-epixs-dc-series). Good catch on Lili Simmons, it's funny the syfy article mentions her as Catwoman having only done the one episode. Good fit, though.

As for the only confirmed spinoff, I have fairly low expectations of it: Epix channel (here are their current 'originals (https://www.epix.com/originals)'), their lead (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1827142/?ref_=tt_cl_t4) has never been one before (but has been in a couple of notable movies), and it's an unknown backstory to a supporting character-- that isn't in the same/superhero genre... Uphill battle, I think.

I didn't really read too much into the the EATASS visa thing, but I'm fairly certain it's mainly just to ensure that Americans entering the country have had booster shots against rabies (for the large numbers of stray dogs roaming the streets), tetanus (due to the rusty, decaying buildings), and malaria (because what 4th world country doesn't have malaria infestations?) and common issues like that.

It was certainly nice of those countries to take in a refugee. I believe it's good to give the less fortunate a hand up. Proper food, clothing, a clean place to sleep, and basic education-- who knows maybe you could have a fighting chance at mediocrity.

I suggest you take a moment to ponder it.

As for "being against the rich", it's not wealth but excessive wealth that's the problem. Same now as it's alway been and as actually educated people as opposed to Brian Kilmeade will tell you is one of the keys to the fall of nations. The voices of a few immensely rich people become more power than the voices of the majority, the government starts kowtowing to few by placing their concerns above the concerns of the majority and then it all goes to hell. Tell me this isn't what happened in Rome, France, St Petersburg, Tehran etc and what's happening in America now.

Btw it doesn't bother you at all that 'merica chose/has as it's leader someone almost uniquely unqualified for the job as oppsed to say someone like that commie Indian bastard Liz Warren who soars above the orange one in experience, intellect, integrity and empathy?

John Luther is a police detective, and a very good one. He deals with murder cases, often involving serial killers, and has a knack for getting inside the mind of the killer. However, his methods, personality and troubled private life often get him into strife with his superiors, leading some to regard him as the problem rather than the solution.

I copied the description because that is pretty much exactly what you get with the show. I watched most of the first season. It definitely has a British television style to it. There are some notably good characters in it, one who shows up fairly early in the season. Worth a watch if the description AND the British style appeal to you.

That said I'm only five episodes in of the ten episode season. So far I'd give it a nine or if I was being totally objective maybe an eight. Obviously though there is still time for things to turn totally to shit like in the case of Doom Patrol so I may in the end be completely wrong about this to.

Edit. Read some negative reviews on IMDB. Most were complaining that it wasn't just like the novel.I suggest they never watch anything based on a book ever then. Either that or they, god forbid, took their time to give the characters a little depth instead of being some wank Stephen Kingish version of some frantic Marvel movie. Oceans of the Solar System
The oceans define the earth. They are crucial to life and we used to think that they were unique to our blue planet. But we were wrong. It has recently been discovered that there are oceans all over our solar system, and they are very similar to our own. And now scientists are going on an epic journey in search of new life in places that never seemed possible. Nasa is even planning to dive to the depths of a strange, distant ocean in a remarkable submarine. The hunt for oceans in space is marking the dawn of a new era in the search for alien life.

But, when the pathologist determines the victim had the liver of a teetotaler, investigators inspects the whiskey flask and finds a secret compartment containing what appears to be part of a coded message. The case takes an even stranger turn when a man identifying himself as the dead man’s son comes to the morgue to claim his body. Investigations lead to political conspiracies being uncovered and a far bigger case is on their hands than first expected.

Worked my way through NOS4A2. Thought it was pretty decent-- didn't really see what people were complaining about. It was what I'd consider easy to watch-- no complex plot to follow, just good-ish vs evil. I realize that it costs a lot of money to attract an audience to a new show, and it makes financial sense to keep that audience hooked through multiple seasons, but it doesn't always make sense to do that with a story. This season ends with absolutely NO resolution whatsoever. None.. And it kinda ruins everything.

What about Agent Carter? I haven't watched the second series, yet, but did like the first one.

Was that a Netflix original? I never got into that one. Even Captain America fighting Nazis barely held my interest until it got to Red Skull.

There was also the season where they forced Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil together. That one goes at the end of my list.

That's kind of how I feel about American Gods, season 2.

'Merkin Gods should have been 10-15 episodes of pure awesome instead of the perpetual drag out of new information that it is. We really only learned like 2 new important details in all of season 2. Season 1 was slow to tell us anything as well.

Was that a Netflix original? ABC so you can guess the quality. Actually I watched some of it because of Carter and Howard Stark (Dominic "Preacher" Cooper) being in it. I don't remember there being a plot beyond Carter being underestimated because she was a woman and all the male agents being tools.

Just saw it's got an 8/10 rating on IMDB which means either those people are studio plants or smoking something 'cause no way it's better than a 5 even factoring in the tits.

He is writing his own post!!, do you mean his own opinion of the movie/shows he is watching??
Ya that would be a smart move considering anything he says you will have a obnoxious reply ;)...

Glad/Nice to see your post Dion:D, I will say you have some strange taste on your viewing, but different strokes for different folks buddy....I have added a few on my list to view, i can say most of them i have never even heard of:)

Well sorry to say my friend, but sometimes the "Truth" does hurt:) Like the Truth, that Dion watches some really strange movies, but that is his thing, and the Truth, 97% of them i have never heard of;), but i am glad he is posting the movie name and the description so i have the opportunity to check them out, have you watched any of them to have a conversation with Dion about them Meg?? Then your obnoxious comment may have some merit??( I can't wait for the comment/reply from the other Yutz!!)...

I can remember your recommendation a long time back "Adam's Apples", a real fucked up movie, where i had to watch it in one of my rooms that i could read the total fucking subtitled movie!!, but i thought it was entertaining:), and if it wasn't for you recommending it, i never would have watched it in a million years, and the Truth!!, it is not a movie that i would ever watch again;), but i did appreciate the recommendation, and every time i watch Casino Royal (Daniel Craig), again it brings back the memory of that movie you so recommended;)

Btw I tried to talk Meg into also doing this copy/paste thing 'cause it's obviously what we are looking for from a forum but he said that he couldn't find anything obnoxious enough to copy.

Back on topic and by the thread title I believe I may be the only one. I watched The Stuff. Not as good as The Blob but then what is?

After that I watched Stuff. It's about lesbians but isn't porn so quite the letdown and that's coming directly from my penis.

I ended the night watching How to Stuff a Wild Bikini or as dion would put it....

How to Stuff a Wild Bikini
Frankie, on naval-reserve duty in Tahiti, doesn't trust Dee Dee to stay faithful, so he hires Bwana, a witch doctor, to help. Bwana conjures up a floating bikini, "stuffs" it with Cassandra, and sends her to distract advertising executive Ricky from Dee Dee.

You do realize Dion is not a real person, right? At best, he's a very persistent troll. At worst, he's a bot proving that AI has a long ways to come before it resembles an actual human.

Or he's eastern European, which is basically the worst of both above options.

Just came back from the lab, where I didn't dissect a frog as meg would think, more like did some criminal investigations with the officers I work with for identifying and investigating the authors in cases of committing crimes or special MO's such as: burglaries, thefts and escapes.
I'm stunned to see that some guys tell me I'm troll, bot or eastern european and I would like to inform meg that almost all the events posted in this topic took place in the United States. Honestly, I do not understand how you have the courage to live in this country. If I were you, I'd request asylum or just emigrate anywhere else. Uzbekistan, South Sudan, Burma... anywhere!

Many a cop is a cop because deep in their psyche they are attracted to crime. If you apply the the same reasoning to your field you may be fascinated by death.

Me personally I'm more along the lines of being fascinated by staying alive.

No thanks is needed ,If you have any common sense you are speaking of a well respected profession Dion....
My best friends cousin is a well respected coroner in Toronto, and my son is a Biomedical Engineer working with kidney advancement, and worked in research in a hospital for 2 years during university (Cell research), ya buddy i can relate;). Again there is a time to be serious in a conversation and show interest, Meg and Idol don't relate to that, but don't ever take it to heart from the two Putz's :).. Serious is not really part of there deal..

Keep posting your Movie interest/viewing, as i said they may be some crack pot movies but i had zero clue of any of them and i guarantee there is a few that are really interesting for sure!!! An open mind and personal interest should always be welcome in any conversation....

Again keep it up buddy.....

PS: Really the other thing people would never think of Dion, in my younger days in the cleaning business, i crossed many caution tapes after the investigations and "Forensics" were done at the scenes, being the guy with a strong stomach to clean up after, Suicides, Arson's, Murders, yes Brains!!, blood soaked beds and couches, burnt pets, in fires maggots all over the kitchen table after a fire etc, I was not great at cleaning the walls, the guy i was with did that, there was only a few guys that could handle walking into the house, and man!! did i get paid huge doe!!!
And it is funny most people don't think about the cleanup after;)

Volcanoes of the Solar System
Volcanoes have long helped shape the Earth. But what is less well known is that there are volcanoes on other planets and moons that are even more extraordinary than those on our own home planet. The show follows an international team of volcanologists in Iceland as they draw fascinating parallels between the volcanoes on Earth and those elsewhere in the solar system. Through the team's research, I discover that the largest volcano in the solar system - Olympus Mons on Mars - has been formed in a similar way to those of Iceland, how a small moon of Jupiter - Io - has the most violent eruptions anywhere, and that a moon of Saturn called Enceladus erupts icy geysers from a hidden ocean. Computer graphics combined with original Nasa material reveal the spectacular sights of these amazing volcanoes.

Along the way, I learn that volcanoes are not just a destructive force, but have been essential to the formation of atmospheres and even life. And through these volcanoes of the solar system, scientists have discovered far more about our own planet - what it was like when Earth first formed, and even what will happen to our planet in the future.
