I saw it labeled as "Pre-Beta". I'm too old to deal with stuff like that. :(

It's actually pretty stable. Not any worse than retail games these days. Plus, it's just a project constantly being worked on and improved.
Still very fun to play.

Started getting back into classic Doom, might give this a shot.

The original Doom series (Ultimate, Doom II, Evilution and Plutonia) are one of the very few non-visual novel games I have installed on my computer. For a challenge, try nightmare mode with no status bar :D

What's the best way to play the original games? I have my original floppies backed up on CD and DVD. Just need to find them.
I use the prBoom+ engine. It has hardware acceleration, fixes bugs and limitations, and adds some features (looking up and down, double-click to open doors).
If you want a full retro experience, try Chocolate Doom; it's a port that runs on modern systems but otherwise stays very close to the DOS version in every aspect.

I was playing a port, but I could not get the mouse right button to move player forward.
Well, that works on prBoom+. It also has an "always run" setting (unlike in the original version where you had to edit a .cfg file to activate that ).
