Hello! Look at the side of the free version of Proton VPN everything is much more interesting and privacy is much better, plus one week of free premium and you can register for a temporary mail.

Free VPNs are usually not very secure, or worse, honeypots. But this one's from the same team behind ProtonMail and has an identical revenue model, so I'd consider them trustworthy. And the free plan's capabilities are very generous :)

Seems fairly underrated. BitTorrent allowed and port forwarding supported. The feature list and blog make it clear that from a technical viewpoint, they know what they're doing.

i use purevpn around about 5 years i think
for download and netflix us,uk,ca,jp
i used cyberghost 3 years but the gui isnt perfect , at the time.
for free use ok
protonvpn is for me very slow, i use mostly japanse server. but other countrys were slow too.
but the main problem is with covid the vpn use is in massive use. so many provider are slow at many times.

My advice is to disregard vendor software and set up OpenVPN-GUI yourself, or even better, run the tunnel on your router where you won't have to worry about leaks and disconnections.

Sometimes switching between UDP and TCP is worth a try. UDP is generally better for tunneling since it doesn't cause packet meltdown, but it may be that TCP offers better throughput, depending on how your router and/or provider deal with the traffic.

I signed up for Surfshark last year & have had problems. Be aware that after 30 days there is no refund even if there service isn't working properly.

I've always thought Surfshark's price is too low to be true ($2 a month if you sign up for a year), but yours is the first negative review I've read so far.

Proton finally added port forwarding, which means they're now a good choice for P2P. Do read on its limitations before buying. And keep in mind several of the most popular VPN services and review sites are owned by the same company..

HSS got me into VPNs a long time ago, along with SecureIX. Back then it financed itself solely by injecting ads on sites you visited, and had a monthly data cap as well as mandatory reconnection every 24 hours (but solutions to all three existed ;)). There are better choices now, though, both free and paid.

Any free VPN should be considered unsafe until there's sufficient reason to believe otherwise. Even paid ones are ultimately a leap of faith, but they have much more to lose from doing things they shouldn't.
