Yes but they will all run at 2100

nice. so both will run when i put all 4 sticks in there? cuz i just got 2 sticks for free from micro center.

and another thing: how good is a ATI built Radeon 9600 128mb? (non pro) compared to my gfx 5200? much better rite?

i have another question:
does using both pc3200 and pc2100 ram slow down my total ram speed? or are they separate?

Ok...Ram runs as fast as the SLOWEST ram. So if you have 3200 and 2100..it will run at 2100. It will slow it all down to PC2100 speed. So right now it has 512MB at PC3200 (400Mhz) and with those two sticks it will have 1GB at PC2100 (266Mhz) For basic needs and stuff and running windows with lots of progs 512 is FINE for me. My friend has it on his gateway and it HAULS! So unless you need the extra RAM I think I would just leave it with 512MB at PC3200. VB knows more then me so he will tell ya lol

if they run at 2100, then y i'm i still able to oc my cpu? if the fsb:ram ratio is 1:1?

umm...theres a question for VB lol...but I swear there running at 2100..Garanteed. I dont know why it would make any difference in your CPU overclocking...but ive never OCd so i duno.

No, oc'ing will be very restricted because the limiting factor is now the PC2100ram, which will rapidly become unstable. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link - your weakest link is the PC2100 mem.

Well if you didn't understand me the first time then i'll say it like this.

I wouldn't add the extra PC2100 ram if I were you.

as long as only pc3200 ram is in there and correctly configured, yes :)

yep, should be. there would almost certainly be some issue with you having the pc2100 ram in, its always better to have the ram matching the fsb

ram matching the fsb?? hmmm... so pc3200 can go up to 3.2 gighz? hmm... maybe mine is just bad ram, cuz in bios, it says the max is 233. and 233x12 is only 2.8 something gighz

FSB= Front Side Bus. the speed on the bus at the cpu, not the cpu itself.

the speed of pc3200 is 200mhz, in ddr mode is 400mhz.
so depends on what speed ur cpu bus is at.

Livy, when you say when in DDR mode it is 400Mhz, isn't it always in DDR mode..or does it have to have 2 sticks running daul channel to be running at 400 Mhz?

dual channel mode isn't ddr mode

all ddr ram will only run in ddr mode

what i meant was, the ram isinfact rated at 200mhz, but since it is ddr ram, its gives it an effective rate of 400mhz, or thats how i understand it
