How many people here find it quicker to download a file, than to search your huge pile of CDs.

I could spend hours looking for a certain file, sifting through huge crap piles of "magic marker" CDroms, but actually I can dowload it several times in the same amount of time.

Yup..and it's quicker to download a song rather than rip it from an original CD

You gotta improve your cataloguing system if it's taking that long.

Go to command prompt and choose the drive letter of your CD, type dir

Copy the contents and paste it into note pad so it looks like this >

You can use a program like iSleuthhound to create a database from this text file and it will bring up the highlighted entry when you search. It's very fast. Just use the volume # to identify the disk.
Keep the movies in one container, the apps in another.

:P You all need to organize better. With OrangeCD all I have to do is select "CDR Location" and that shows all my CDRs and what is on each one.

Search for a Song or Album and it tells me what CDR.

Databaseing is the most important part of this Game Gentlemen. :D

I concur with Mr Capricorn...there is also some good software for cataloguing every file on CD-R, which basically takes a snapshot of the disk, so you can easily search for a file, or even flick through the contents without taking it from your box.

cant remember what its called, but someone will know :)
