pull out all cables on the back of computer.
open the computer case.
find an empty drive bay.
put in the drive. fasten the screws.
connect the IDE cable.
connect the power cable.
connect the audio cable (if you have one, it's not needed)

put the computer case back on.
put all the cables back.
turn on the computer.
install DVD software.
play your movies.

piece of cake! :D

There is a jumper on the back (small black plastic pin).

Look in the manual which setting is slave.

Screw the DVD into your computer. Attach the IDE cable (flat cable) and power connector.

Done.

Windows should automatically detect the drive. PowerDVD is simply a software player (like WMP and Divx Player) and will make no difference if the drive isn't detected and installed.

One important thing,
Use the DVD-drive to playback any CDs(audio, data, movie). Set it as the "master". Use the burner for just that, burning(set it as the slave). This will extend the life of your burner.
